I was just thinking about getting into collecting SW Starship Battles, is there any word if there is going to be an expansion this year? |

I haven't heard of an expansion for it. While it did extremely well as people bought up the classic ships for use in other games, the rules are pretty much universally agreed to as one of the worst starship games. The big ships are just far too easy to destroy, causing you to get an entire ship or two full of fighters destroyed in the first turn, without getting the fighters deployed. As fighters play such a large part in the Star Wars universe, this is just wrong. I'd love to see an expansion that makes the Star Destroyers actually uncommon and not very rare, as their distribution actually makes them. I had to buy all five of the Star Destroyers I got in the first set and I picked up five cases of them (30 booster boxes) and some extra boosters here and there. On the other hand, I got 9 of the Rebel Assault Cruiser which is also another uncommon and not that good looking a ship. If it was a decent enough looking ship it wouldn't sting so much. I'm not the only person that has had the same thing happen. I am completely convinced WotC intentionally labeled them as uncommon and produced them in rare numbers. It's happened to far too many people for me to believe otherwise. Hell, the rares were more common, I've got doubles of most of the rare ships too. |

So far there is no sign. It looks like they have killed it :( Most people are collecting the miniatures to use with other rules (like Full Thrust or G.O.B.S.). Also, there are alternatives to expand your collection. I have just finished painting some Tie Defenders and Tie Phantoms for our collection. |

When SWSSB was released, WK stated that further expasion of the line was not a priority, even if it sold well
very much a "well, maybe well see about it later" statement. I haven't seen anything, either. Maybe if they'd produced some decent rules, they would have sold more, and we'd have our expansion. As it is, I never got around to redesigning or retrofitting any rules, so I bought less (go fig), and the whole project fizzled out. I saw star destroyers were selling for big bucks on the secondary market, but were they really that rare? Of the seven or eight boosters I have, I got two. I just assumed it was because people would WANT more SD's than anything else. |

The two rarest ships in the game as far as I could see were SDs and Arc170s. Tie fighters being a close third. All ships you would want lots of for any type of battle. We have a good time with ours playing Full Thrust style rules. |

Yeah, the mix was totally fubared. Ships that should be common (tie) were hard to come by and less common ships are out by the box load. I'm just lucky. Got 3 SDs from 5 boosters. Tie fighters not as lucky. I do HATE collectable games. We played a lot the first month but it totally died after that. |

Star Destroyers were uncommon, but they filled a "huge" slot in the pack so they weren't exactley what you'd call common. And for some reason people were wanting sector fleets worth of them despite the fact that in cannon they were practically a fleet unto themselves. Anyway I've heard that there's a expansion coming this year, but I don't know for sure. |

This game had a lot of problems Bendy ships! They were some of the worst paint jobs and molds I have ever seen! Rules
The fact that you could field different era ships in a fleet?! But I understand the regular minis game does this too. Why? |
