Anyone know the status of the Bob Jones proposal to use an iPod or other device to randomize events in a miniatures game?

Haven't heard anything recently.

I'd think a web-type application over cell phones would work better, since there's a lot more programming mojo available for that and more people have web-enabled cell phones than iPods.

I have used my iPaq PDA to run Shipbase games for naval miniatures. Works pretty well, but the tiny screen makes for a lot of squinting. Then again, I never made a version of Shipbase optimized for tiny screens.

Same here we had a discussion (Heather, Bob, and I) back at Historicon two years ago. Were looking for ways to promote the hobby via Podcasts as well. then Bob I think kind of lost interest around Sept and the projects died.

I assume the idea behind Battage is that each army would have it's own playlist (similar to the card deck in Piquet) and then the shuffle function of the iPod would randomly select a tune/card which would announce the specific card and sound effect ("Sniper Fire. Peeee--ewww!").
