Being a TMP veteran, I know better than to start a question with "who makes the best". I'm looking at who makes more accurate artillery for CSA and US Napoleons, US 3" Ordnances, and US 10# Parrots. You can toss in limbers as well, if you like. I only know of Old Glory and Sash & Saber. S&S is on sale for 2 pieces of artillery for $6.25, which is a good deal. I see the pictures, but I don't really know what I'm looking at. Do OG and S&S match up size-wise? |

Connoisseur Miniatures (owned by Bicorn Miniatures in the UK) makes the best looking ACW artillery bar none. And they make limbers and have either horse or mule teams. If you look at the entry in my blog and scroll down to the second picture, then click on the picture to enlarge the view, you will see some samples of the Connoisseur guns link |

To answer your base inquiry, OG and S&S 'scale' very well together. And I agree with Alte Fritz's assessment of Connoisseur, but I haven't been able to buy any 'pure' Connoisseur for almost 8 years. I've some of the original Colonials and would absolutely love to have some more. Any sources ? Not looking for the Bicorne casts, they somehow just don't measure up to the original line. |

Sash and Saber and Connoisseur 25mm ACW artillery are dead ringers for each other. I have both side by side and the only way to tell them apart is that Connoisseur wheels have pins in the end of the axles and S&S do not. Otherwise they are identical. So at $6.25 USD for two guns from S&S I'm ordering a bunch. OG artillery is generally a tad smaller. Bill. |

I either had Connoisseur or Elite French Napoleonic guns but can not say I ever saw the ACW ones. I love the few I do have regardless. I also just got 5 more ACW Sash & Saber 25mm guns. I really like the guns and at the price they can not be beat. VR James Mattes |

Good. Sounds like S&S is good enough. |

S&S are great pieces, and now with the sale still on you almost can't turn them down. However, if you can still find Firing Line guns they were perfect. Redoubt guns are OK but the wheels are a little on the "thick" side. Don't bother with OG,Dixon or Foundry IMHO! |

As DAF said, Connoisseur makes the best and the most accurate equipment you are going to find for ACW, but they are not cheap. The sash and saber stuff is so close in quality that it would be a mystery why anyone who needs to be frugal with their Wargaming budget would consider not buying S and S, with their normal prices, let alone the current sales prices!! |

Sash and Saber hands down!! And this is the last week of their 50% of sale, which I took advantage of earlier this month. You're talking two 25 artillery pieces at $6.25!! That price also includes artillery tools and implements, you cannot beat it. You can grab six artillery pieces and crew enough for them and field a full battery for around $35.00. Even at their regular price of $12.50 USD for two artillery pieces it's still a great deal, but the sale Chris has going on right now is just nuts! Don't miss out. Just a side note about historical detail – Chris makes two versions of the Napoleon, the federal produced version with the swell at the end of the tube, and also the confederate produced version from southern foundries, which did not have the swell. It's a nice touch and a detail not seen among many 25mm ACW ranges. |
