I haven't seen this posted anywhere yet on TMP. Rummaging thru the discount DVD bin at Walmart I picked up this classic 1952 series in one box containing 3 discs for just five bucks. That's a great deal!

Yep. Picked up a copy and watched it end-to-end a couple months ago. It's a classic. I was struck by the complete lack of ironic self-reflection. The series was made for the WWII vets, who knew very well why they had fought the war, and were proud of their sacrifice and their victory. It was a very different time.

I happened upon that deal today, and added it to my collection of DVD's.

I have been looking for it, but no joy.

John, I've seen it frequently in the Dickson City (Scranton) Walmart.

There's actually two versions: a single box version in the $5 USD bin, and four individual disk versions (volumes 1 through 4) in the $1 USD section. I have the latter version. Don't know if there's a significant difference between the two versions.
