I am about to start painting some carrier aircraft for my hypothetical operational Graf Zeppelin. Stukas and 109's. Would these aircraft be painted the same as Luftwaffe aircraft or do you think the German navy would have painted them a different way, ie navy greys?

Your guess is as good as mine. That said,

German floatplanes, flying boats and long range patrol bombers in the Atlantic and Arctic were mostly painted in the classic dark green/darker green splinter pattern with pale blue undersides. In the Med the Luftwaffe flew either in this temperate scheme or the desert scheme of overall tan, with or without green blotches.

IIRC, one of the major arguments during the construction of Graf Zeppelin was whether the Luftwaffe or Kriegsmarine would be in command of the aircraft that flew off of it, so your options are as follows: Assume Luftwaffe won the argument, and then look up the camo patterns used by the Luftwaffe's naval recon craft, or assume the Kriegsmarine won, and come up with your own color scheme.

I've seen all sorts of interpretations, including a lovely dark blue overall with yellow nose and rudder: picture Possibly fanciful, but it looks great…. If you're feeling obsessive, see if your library can lay hands on "Sea Eagles" by Francis Marshall; this is entirely about the Me-109T, and ought to have a word or two on the matter….

Thanks boys. I might go the dark blue/yellow just to be different.

What about a splinter pattern but in blue
