Tool Bench Hardware Painters Tape

Why do wargamers need painters tape, and is the dollar-store variety good enough?

'Morning folks

I had some business last year with a Canadian wargamer/painter/TMPer by the name of John LeBlanc, and I really need him to contact me. He hasn't been on TMP since January, but I am hoping another member might know him.

Cheers

I've been trying to get in touch with him for a while – December 2006 to be exact

I bought some stuff from him off ebay as a Christmas Present to me

I paid but he didn't deliver

He told me that he had some domestic problems and would sort it out

I cut him some slack but nothing came of it

Unfortunately by that time I had passed the paypal refund deadline

Nice bloke

regards

Alan

Dang.

That is exactly the sort of thing I didn't want to hear…describes my situation almost to a T.

Thanks anyway, Alan. Are you in Canada, or some other neck of the woods?

Cheers

Sounds like you two have been defrauded and need to file a PayPal claim or something with Ebay or whereever you purchased your stuff. If it happened once – I think we could all understand it. If it happens twice – that seems to be a scam!

Stay away from John LeBlanc. He is not to be trusted. There are many horror stories out there with regards to this nefarious character.

Paul Y10 Mar 2008 3:26 p.m. PST

Eric – that would have been handy to know 8 months ago, before he got my money :(. Do you have personal experience with this individual, or know someone who does? I would like to take it further, but I think some names and dates might come in more handy than third-hand 'horror stories'. I'd be grateful if you could email me offsite at pansy97(don't laugh) atbigponddot Com.

I have purchased items from Mr. LeBlanc on occasion. His M.O. seems to be to take money and then paint up what the person wants. The problem is that he pretends to have what you want right away. I have purchased about 500 figures from him at various times. Sometimes I get them right away sometimes it takes 8-12 months. My friend and I learned to only pay him upon receipt of the goods.

You will get your figures most likely but they will show up at some random time. He is a nice guy just someone that seems to promise and cannot deliver on time.

Thanks for the reply Jeff. In this instance he PM'd me regarding a thread I started on 7YW Hanoverians, saying that he had some figures I might be interested in buying. He even emailed me pics of the painted figures. I sent him the money – foolishly, as it now looks, but I have never had any trouble with TMP-ers before – but never received the items. He responded politely to a number of my emails, but there has been nothing since I asked him for proof of postage.

I am glad you got your goodies, but the fact that at least two other people haven't doesn't fill me with confidence
:(

Cheers

Paul,

That is how he works. He has pictures of figures that he can send you but he does not have the figs all ready. He will get the cash and then buy the figs and paint them. Like I said before you will probably get your figs. Just not anytime soon. What worked for us was calling the hobby store in his location. I would pass on the info but I don't have it anymore. It was a number of years ago that I had any problems (probably 2002-2003). Hope it all works out for you.

Thanks Jeff. A very strange way of doing business, I must say… talk about 'how not to win friends and influence people'!

Paul Y – I'm in the UK

LeBlanc stung me for 76 GBP back in December 2006 on ebay

If anyone has the pleasure of seeing him then please wish him a Merry Christmas from me

Thanks Alan. One thing I never actually found out, given that we only corresponded thru TMP and email, was what his Ebay username was. Could you (or anyone else) help me out there?

Cheers

Paul Y

His ID is redkepi but it hasn't been used since April 2007

Is it possible for you to PM me his TMP ID & email

Alan – sorry, but I can only send PMs to TMP supporting members (which he was at the time). If you send me an email at pansyand97at bigpondanddotand com (taking out the ands) I will give you the info.

Cheers
Paul.
