I have space on my ship stand to put the ships name or class but not both. Should I label my ships by name or class? For ships that I have all the ships of that class I am leaning toward using the ships names. If I run a historical scenario, and all my ships are named and I have a ship from the same class but not the right name it would seem strange. Maybe it's the OCD in me talking
.. What do you think? |

Name -- otherwise they just lack personality. If the individual name in an hostorical scenerio is important, then either find a way to mount the names temporarily of only run them if you have what you want. I mean, if you a running a destryer action and half the commonwealth destroyers are labeled "Tribal" it's all pretty bland, isn't it? |

Use metal paper on the ship and print the names on printable magnet paper. You then have any name you want. Ken |

I take another approach – i paint a letter and number on one side at the base to indicate what the ship is, which is then written down on a ship data sheet. That way i can use the same model as different ships within a class as and when one gets sunk during a campaign. |

I lable on the bottom the class name and lable the ship name on the top starting with type, BB, CL, DD etc. If I am running a historIcal scenario I spray new lables backs with a temporary spray fixative from 3M.(I can't remember the name) I can peal off the lables when I am done. Terry |

Thanks for all the ideas, I decided to just name them all, I can always make new labels or buy a few new figures. Like I need a reason. LOL Thanks again! |

Forgot to say I captured the flag image from somwhere and resized it in excel next to the name. Then just printed them out and glued them to the bases. |

I have printable sheets of the flags if anyone wants them. Pretty well all nations that have ships. I prefer clear plastic bases with a white wake added. These enable the colour of the tabletop to show through. A small flag helps id, along with the pennant or hull number in black. If there is no pennant or hull number then the name of the ship. my email is mgwright@bigpond.net.au if anyone wants the flags. |

I put the name and nationality on the top of the base where it can be read during the game. I put the type (BB, CA, CL etc.) and the class (Iowa, North Carolina, Fletcher etc.) on the bottom. |
