OK guys just to confirm that we will be playing the following games as part of the Air Pocket at Triples in Sheffiled.

On the Sturday we will be playing "Fire Over The Don", this is an early 1942 Eastern front Scenario. A horde of umpire controlled Soviet bombers and some escort fighters being attacked by player controlled Luftwaffe and other Axis air force fighters. The game will be played in 1/300th, using Blue Skies/Blues Bears rules and as usual all players will get a free set of rules with all the charts needed to play game at home.

On Sunday we will be playing two scenarios using the Air War C21 2nd edition rules and 1/600th scale aircraft. The scenarios are "Whack an AWACs" based loosely on Tom Clancys book Red Storm Rising and featuring an assortment of NATO fighters trying to save an AWACs from a swarm of Soviet attackers, all player controlled. The second is The Mother Of All Air Strikes" an alternative strategy for the Iraqi air force during the liberation of Kuwait, if I say that Dinky Shand came up with this one after a few sherbets that should worry people in the know. The players control scrambling Coalition fighters and fighter bombers trying to stop an umpire controlled raid.

So if you want to kill something with wings saddle up we will get as many games as possible in over both days. Even if you can't play come and say hello and swap a few lies and insults.

See Yawl

Of course the obvious question is……is there a bar.?

Remember we are the premier participation wargames and aerobic drinking team. :-P

Who has a nice Croatian Biplane flight put aside for you on Saturday

Ben Ten02 Mar 2008 4:35 p.m. PST

There most certainly is a bar Triples, a couple in fact. Even a smoking area for fume consuming dinosaurs like me (on t'outside patio in accordance with health and safety nanny state guidelines).

What he said, and ooh, Croatian biplanes….

Dom :-p

PS – Your geography's rubbish; you may think "Fire Over The Don" is appropriate for Sheffield, but….

PS – Avia 534s, or have you found something *really* obscure…? Actually I seem to recall they only got about 4 Avias; CR42s weren't until 1944 (lucky them….) so not those. Maybe the one ex-Yugoslav Hawker Fury to make up the numbers…?

Dom :-p

Sorry Dom its B-534's. Yes my geography is rubbish, as is my history only one of the Axis allies air forces saw combat over the Don bend. Who cares it lets us play withsome pretty, and really obscure planes.

Oh! After its first playtest the game has it's alternative title. "Dirty Scouse Git"! Errr no sorry sixties flashback. The games A.T. is "Can I have a REAL fighter?"

Ahhh, sorry "Don" reference. me staying with Phil in Doncaster. Was that a sort of, I am loath to use the term, joke?

There are only two rivers we Scots think of in England. The Thames, from whence most of our troubles come. The Rio Tweed, south of which all civilisation ends*.

I shan't dignify that with a response….
