Bill beat me to the punch by posting an announcement about the setting up of the AirWarSoc.org forum:

The question that wasn't answered in the post is why the forum has been set up.

Basically it stems from the fact that every period and genre seems to have its own specialist society promoting it (eg. SOA, P&SS, NWS, SOTCW etc) but aerial gaming doesn't. To my mind this means that aerial wargaming is rather fractured and tends to be split on rule set lines more than other periods making it hard for beginners to find what suits them etc.

However the setting up of a dedicated Society with a journal etc seems (at this stage) rather hard work (and some people are so paranoid at hat they are trying to control them…), so having pondered the concept of a dedicated website I though a forum, effectively a cross between a website and a Yahoo list was worth a try.

The idea is that you have general discussion, rules discussion on it, but also articles and scenarios that would appear in a society journal can be posted on and also commented on by readers. Pretty much a chance for air wargamers to share views and stuff in one generic non-specific place with no boundaries or restrictions (well apart from being polite).

Whilst in its formative days there are a some interesting articles up already including on on the Brazilian Air Force in WW2 (a real low cost alternative "army") and links to paper VSF models for Sky Galleons on Mars (yes, if it flies it's a legitimate topic whether historical, fantastical or SF).

So anyway, that's the idea behind the forum, hopefully you'll come over, join up and contribute and encourage other airheads to do likewise.

so it's just the kind of place to mention the Air Pocket – 6 groups each putting on a participation air wargame at Sheffield Triples this year?

The games on offer run from Aeronef to WW1 to Modern to Santa and many points inbetween, and players are always welcome.

There'll even be a raffle (not sure what the prizes are yet but there'll be some)

Posted a couple meandering messages. Should be a good source for Air Games!

Gracias,
