Just completed another Russian Walker for some Weird War gaming.
It's another AT43 Re-Paint, this time with some nasty looking Mortars!

I've also added anew pilot to my Russian Heavy Walker. He's a converted Alpha Forge Games mini.

Now to start on some infantry……………..

Oooooooo! Very nice indeed! What make of infantry will you be using? The Westwind SotR stuff?

Kampfgruppe Cottrell26 Feb 2008 12:26 p.m. PST

I gotta see you play a game with that stuff already. That is going to be a kick ass battle report.

Pappa Midnight, those are very well done re-paints! It would be interesting and informative if you were to do a tutorial for TMP.

Fantastic paint jobs.

Nicely thought out, and executed faultlessly.

Space Monkey26 Feb 2008 1:28 p.m. PST

Yeah a tutorial would be nice… do you disassemble them first? how?… do you strip off the old pain job?

I am THOROUGHLY IMPRESSED!!!

I'm just wondering, have you thought about arming one of your walkers with a death ray, as per Gear Krieg?

OUTSTANDING work, Pappa Midnight, and thank you very much for sharing your pics!

thumbs up

Thank you all for the positive comments! :0)

I never thought of doing a tutorial, but I've got another walker sat on my bench, primed and ready. I will see what I can do!

With reference to stripping and disassembling, I don't bother stripping the original paint job off as it's pretty well "keyed" to the plastic and makes a good base coat (although I file off any join lines). I disassemble the model, removing the canopy, weapons and main body for ease of painting.

I will be working on the next walker over the next week or so, so i'll take some in progress pics and write a run-down of each stage.

I've just picked up some of the new Artizan Thrilling Tales Russians (very Weird War)and some Blacktree Design troops to use as infantry.

Hmmm……Deathray……… worth a thought..!

Thanks again for the comments, it's always nice to know people like your work!

Regards

The second link shows the death ray, the ordnance on the upper right. Looking forward to seeing more pics from your workbench.

The Tesla Gun? Yeah, that piece is sufficiently scaleless to work in 28mm.

Another great build, Poppa! (Can you link to the German Walker again?)

Ost grenadier is right …do a workbench article I like the fading whitewash look

Smokey Roan26 Feb 2008 7:37 p.m. PST

Nevermind, I saw the German Walker on your link. :)

BTW ICM is about to release their 1/48 scale 222:

With some legs it'll make a great scout walker.

Pappa Midnight27 Feb 2008 9:42 a.m. PST

That 222 is definitely a good basis for a Walker!
Thanks for the link!

@Saginaw, like the look of the AA there as well, would be sweet as close support autocannons, sholder or back mounted aa, etc.

Stewbags27 Feb 2008 10:47 a.m. PST

Papa, I love the weathered whitewash effect you have got on these walkers, look amazing. If I were to do winter soviets I would love to end up with that sort of finish on my tanks. A step by step would be awesome!!!

Are you going to have any "krazy" stuff like darksons Chumans

link

They are awesome!!!

Just a thought, If your comrades are intended as zombie hunters (I think I remember that from a previous post of yours) given the wartime use of dogs with metal detecting mines on them, how about some dogs with maybe firebombs (vodka bottles filled with an air igniting napalm, zombie takes a bite, zombie and buddies get BURRRRNED) controlled by the PSI officer from the above set? Hehehe, I love Weird War 2, brings out the demented sadist in me.

You should check the Russian survivors that westwind do in their shs range, they are sweet and have some great heads which are good for swapouts with blacktree, artisan, etc.

Also are the thrilling tales Russians you have the Cossaks? I also think they are amazingly cool.
