I made and painted these 15mm (1/100 scale) A6M5s models for use with the game Check Your 6! The kits are from Armaments in Miniature armamentsinminiature.com . These nice kits are resin, clean up nicely, and are easy to assemble and paint. Pictured in the links below are two versions of the model (standard and Dogfight Double). The standard kits include antennas and the option of adding a bomb or external fuel tank.

The Dogfight Double (DFD) is meant for the aerial combat gaming table and does not inclued parts for antennas, bombs, or drop tanks (that I would manage to break off in the first high-g turn). Additionally the DFD model comes with a steel screw cast in it's belly. The screw allows one to mount the model on magnet equipped stands and doesn't require drilling holes or attaching magnets. The DFD pictures include a shot of a magnet equipped, telescoping, 3 inch hex base. Dave also has these stands available at Armaments in Miniature. I don't believe the DFD kits are pictured on the AIM website yet so if you're interested in them you'll want to contact Dave (through the AIM website or at a convention).

I'm still working on some F6F Hellcats to oppose these A6M5s but hope to have some pictures up before the weekend is over.

Kevin,

Well done! Where did you get the decals . . . from AIM?

Mark, thanks! The national insignia are available through AIM link . The decal sheet has "wargames.com" printed on it. The other decals (flower and script) are from Scale Specialties. ss-sms.com/samurai.html

What a great idea. I would have not considered samurai decals.
