I got some figurehead 1/6000 scale ships, and I got an extra! YEA

But I don't know what it is. It does not match any ships that I bought.

I am a noob at WWII ships.
So any help would be great.

USS Wichita, maybe?

I'd like to see a top down or quartering view but off hand, three turrets, two funnels, twin catapults on the stern – I think it's a US ship, maybe a Cleveland or a Baltimore but I can't make out whether there are any of the twin 5"/38 turrets that are so characteristic of US war built ships.

It could be Wichita, with the Figurehead ships, Wichita comes with 1 in the bag along with 2 Fargo class which is, as I recall, a single stack Cleveland. Wichita has fewer of the 5"/38 twins than either the Baltimores or the Clevelands.

Here is a link to a photo of my painted 1/6000 Wichita in MS12 camoufalge with an MS22 Brooklyn class Savannah.

Cute baby, btw :)

I'd say it's the Wichita.

Another vote for "Wichita." She was a unique, transitional design.

I second (or whatever) the vote on Wichita. She had single 5" guns (no twins), some in single gunhouses and some in single open mounts. She was very unique in having a single 5" gunhouse on the centerline over the 8" turrets at either end.

NB: She was also one of the few prewar heave cruisers NOT to be torpedoed during the war.

It's Wichita, for certain. (I have most of the Figurehead line, and this model is in front of me as I type).

BTW, the 2nd funnel needs to be stretched a bit prior to painting. To my eye, that's the main reason it's hard to ID right out of the bag.
