I picked up a number of these guys very cheap on ebay sometime ago

and knocked them into low-tech light armour for my 15mm sci-fi collection.

The above mentioned tanks with some WIP 15mm sci-fi for scale.

What I'm looking for now are comparable cheap (I remain on a tight buget) APC/transports. So far I've only found some in 1:35th scale, which are way too big!

(I'm UK based so suppliers outside of the UK that are willing to ship internationally only please)

Hi,

If you could drop the dimensions I can look at my 15mm line and see if anything would fit in.

Are you looking for tracked wheeled, Grav or hover for your transports?

I do ship to the UK and I work with the customer for VAT etc… Most shipping for UK based customers is right round $20.00 USD
E-mail for further details on what I can do.

The bases on the tanks are about 6cm long IIRC and I'm looking for tracked or wheeled vehicles to fit in. Though what I'm really after is an equally dirt cheap soft plastic APC equivalent to the tanks.

Granted the tanks roots show even with the added gribbly bits, painting and basing, but with the best part of thirty tanks their crudeness becomes lost in the crowd. Not bad for probably a tenner(~$15) and there are another dozen or so I wasn't able to use siting in my spares box. I did spend another £10.00 GBP on Skytrex 15mm CD & GZG 15mm vehicle stowage/crew packs, but these have been used on a number of other projects aswell so I still probably less than a £1/tank!

@Mel

Nice wide range – some models have been added to the mental wish list! Unfortunately as a PhD student a wish list it will have to remain (for some months anyway – and there's also the wife…).

I have seen m113 style APC's in toy sets. Mainly a police set.
If you can find those I'm sure that would fit your project.

I'm currently doing an online search to see if I can find an example. so far no luck

No luck on the search.
Next time I'm at the local B&M I'll get the name of the sets…

Check out eBay for the old plastic M113 by Airfix or your local cheapo shop like Poundland for the bags of figures for a quid, they often have suitable vehicles in with them.

Have you looked at what small diecasts are available ?

Hot Wheels , Matchbox , Maisto make the occasional military model in scales not dissimilar to 1/100 – 15mm.

I've got some diecast models that may be of some interest to you but I don't know if they are small enough. I've tried to take some photos of them:

You might consider paper models or scratch built ones made from blocks of wood or foam and bits of card to provide relief. Hit me offline if you like at sgtjj@hotmail.com for some projects I have done in the scratch building line.

By the way, awesome job on the cheapo tanks. They look great.

Cheers, for the suggestions I'll just have to keep scouring the internet/£ shops till I find something.

@Jim
I have tried scrtach building in the past but could never get something I was happy with and easy to reproduce in bulk (i.e. 10 for a full company). In particular consistant and reproducable hatches, vision blocks, etc, to give the vehicles surface some relief.

I know Grendal produces some hatches and other oddments for detailing sci-fi vehicles, but only in 25mm. I'm slightly suprised that nothing like that exists for 15mm as quite alot of resin sci-fi vehicles lack distinct hatches and other surface detail.

I actually need some cheap vehicles in 1/35 scale.
Where did you find them?

TankGuy26 Apr 2008 8:40 p.m. PST

How cheap on the 1/35 scale?

I have 2 T55, 1 T74, 1 T80; 3 BMP-1, 3 BMP-2, 1 BMP-1E, and 1 BMP-2E in 1/35 in a dark earth and dark green scheme, assembled and painted.

Shows all 1/35 AFV.
