If anyone has seen or uses these sci-fi figures, could you please tell me if the sculpt is any good and if they compare well to other 28-30mm figures?

If you are talking about the Buck rogers figs……..I own a load. They were selling them off in huge lots for a few dollars at Scientific Supply and surplus store. They would fit in fine with EM-4 Combat Zone figures. They aren't the same size as Warzone or other Heroic scaled figures.

Thanks,

John

What does it mean "Gun pod" ?

Techromancer11 Feb 2008 11:35 p.m. PST

The Gun Pods from the Buck Rogers stuff? It's a sphere with what looks like a hover-skirt on the bottom and a gun mounted on the top. You can see one in the drawing (on the right) at John's link. I don't have one handy to check, but IIRC they're maybe a centimeter in diameter.

The vehicles on the sprues are the same as those in Robogear, never seen the figures before though

Higher up the page there is a picture of some SF figures, 4 guys with a laser rifle and two with a pistol. It says they are HG Toys.

Anyone know anything about these, as I had them but they were sold with a Sci-Fi vehicle from Matchbox in ~1980.

Any photos out there on these? Painted or otherwise?

"It's a sphere with what looks like a hover-skirt on the bottom and a gun mounted on the top."

It's an orbital defence platform. In the game you put them around planets to stop people attacking the factories from orbit.

There are two sizes of soldiers, one for humans, one for genetically engineered infantry. The spacecraft are fighters and transports.

If you're after them, it's worth just seeing if you can pick up a copy of the game -- it quite often shows up at B&B sales and similar places.

Hmm very interesting Techromancer. Thanks.
