The saga continues. A follow up to my last two threads on Troll and Toad.

Well I finally got the big order (over $500) and today I received two other orders I had with them. One via several items off eBay, and one direct order via the website.

BOTH had some handwritten sheet of paper saying several of the items in my order were missing and I would be credited for the purchases. No invoice number or anything else to identify the order on the sheet of paper.

On the first I was missing over ½ the order. 12 items they sold on eBay that they did not have. The remaining 10 were crammed in a small box, cards were bent, 4 of the Starships were badly bent, and 3 (tie fighters) broken!

Now I will give you that these items are fidelity to begin with and often have slight bends in them BUT the card showed signs that the items were crammed into the box and sealed shut.

I sent them an long email on both orders and am filling a dispute on eBay. Out about $40 USD on the first and $12 USD on the second order.

The second was some pocket modules for the Star Wars game. I orders 9 of one type 3 of another and 3 of a third card. They sent 2 of the 9 and said on the "blue sheet of paper" that I was ONLY missing 1! The other two items of three each were there. Now I don't know how many of you order card type game items but almost always I get them in at least a sealed plastic bag. These were literally dumped into a postal mailer and sent. Pieces were loose in the mailer and several of the cards were very scratched up.

To say the least I found the shipping and the enclosed note to be very unprofessional and not what I would expect from a vendor or hobby shop to say the least!

Now to their credit I had excellent service via the phone and the two or three folks who assisted me on line. BUT on the whole I find the service to be sub par.

I deal with many vendors around the country and overseas and over 200 different folks on eBay, based on these last two transactions I do not think I would recommend Troll and Toad services to fellow TMPers.

I still have one item on order from them off eBay right now that I was going to order some more items along with, but I think this evening I will pay for that one item and cut my loses.

And yes I have learned the hard way! Guess that's what I get for buying ("Alt") gaming stuff. ;-)

Sorry to hear about your bad experience, vojvoda.

I ordered from Troll and Toad once and would never order from them again!

Neither of the books (D&D and CoC) were anything close to the condition that was advertised; I sent them back and my money was refunded; I'm glad it was only a couple of books I had to deal with…

Thanks for the warning…

I've dealt with them at DragonCon over several years; my experience last year will be the final one. Two of their reps were nice and helpful, but the guy in charge was a complete prick.

OK, I thought I would get a Bleeped text for that one.

Thye have outrageous shipping costs and never seem trustworthy to me.

Now, I know where not to spend money.

Too bad about your casa, mate. Hope you clear it soon and that the Ebay people put a stop to them, asap. Auctiong/selling stuff they don't have… That's fraud!

I'm really sorry to hear of your unpleasant experience, James. I was going to purchase the out-of-print Babylon Project Earthforce Sourcebook from them (as it's advertised as being "new" and a hardback on their eBay auction), but from the three threads I've read on this trader, I think I'll wait to find another hardback copy, or just get a softback.

Good luck on your future purchases, James.

You might get lucky but if I were you I would check their website first, one item should not be too hard for them. I do admit talking to them on the phone I had good service but I think they have the off spring of 1st cousins packing shipments.
