They seem determine to let the hype completely dry up after releasing the first few pictures/info. Jack all word since, yet it is plastered over their website
slightly frustrating. The lack of info has let this one almost slip off my radar. Ben. |

That and being collectable *spew* In a category (kaiju) without non-collectable competition, this really doesn't worry me. The advantages are obvious by now: the CMG model allows them to produce a larger initial range without the risk of duds in the line sitting in their warehouse. Unless the entire game tanks, every mini they make goes out the door. As has been seen in the DDM and Clix lines, this allows models that would never sell in a lone blister to be produced in quantity. The 'duds' risk migrates to the secondary market. The CMG model is far more worrying in categories with a lot of competition. Reaper is having problems because the CMG model combined with the 800-lb Gorilla of brand loyalty has caused the DDM line to steal a lot of their market share. |

I got the NQ 17 two days or such ago. Heres the gist. The two factions that got previewed were G.U.A.R.D. (giant robot with jetpack) And the Green Fury (the godzilla looking thing) No new pictures but heres the background G.U.A.R.D.: They are the good guys. Thier job is to protect earth from stompy lizards, flying saucers and yes
even tenticles. They have the top scientists from all around the world that make their mechs and weapons. They hold a superior attitude to every one else. As seen in this quote from the article. "After one particularly devistating alien invasion of London, the Prime Minister of England attempted to bill G.U.A.R.D. for damages caused to many historical monuments by G.U.A.R.D. forces. A day later, the Prime Minister recieved a bill from G.U.A.R.D. Chief Executive General Norman for costs of the battle; three years worth of ordenance expenditure vehicle maintenance and repair. and man hours (including overtime and danger pay)." Green Fury: Eco terrorists. Terra Kahn (godzilla thing) came from south america and likes to eat industial waste and metal. Green Fury (think of green peace with AK-47s and stinger missles) basicaly use terra kahn as a platform for their anti-pollution campaigns. Terra Kahn doesn't seem to mind that much apparnetly (though the reason is unknown), basicaly "Terrasaurs, Despite their ravenous nature, seem unexpectedly tolerant of Green Fury members" (Terrasaurs are the little guys). I think they will preview two factions every magazine. So far we have gotten the agendas though (not sure what they mean gamewise, but it does show some background. Ill list them from the magazine here. Protectors, (G.U.A.R.D.): The good guys. The protectors fight to defenda way of life even if it means demolishing a few buildings in the process. Collaborators, (Unknown): These guys have motivations known only to them – sometimes its a good thing for humanity, other times humanity is just a stepping stone. Radicals, (Green Fury): Focused only on an ideal, they care little for humanity when compared to advancing their goals. Invaders, (Unknown): Earth offers these guys somthing they want, and they'll stop at nothing to have it. Destroyers, (Unknown): Wanton destruction is their singular motivation. Its nothing personal, just don't get in their way. Fiends, (Unknown): Pure evil, through and through. These creatures destroy because they enjoy inflicting pain and suffering. Lastly to note, there were six pictures across the top, the two previewed were filled in (terra kahn and the guard robot) The four others were sillouettes. They were they cthuhlu thing, the gold fat crab clawed lizard thing that the recent convention, there was a guy with two wrist blades (I remember seeing a picture of the model somewhere but can't recall where) and a War-of-the-worlds-esque tripod, it had two claws, and a sort of underhung gun and was on three legs. No new pictures were previewed though =(. |
