Seeing you are obviously obsessed with me lately (kind of scary actually)I thought I might enlighten you to how a real library of Napoleonics would look like. Not a few British history books like it seems you can only afford or desire to have.

link

Now please leave me alone, I do not wish to have any further discourse with you what so ever. You malign me for your own reasoning which is despicable and downright disgusting. Do us all a favour and go back to your French and Bonaparte bashing website and post to your hearts content where you are king and ruler of your own private little world.

Regards and best wishes
Shane

and this is what got my goat up !!

Cacadores I 28 Jan 2008 12:49 p.m. PST
Dear Newbie:

Hope you enjoy it here – as long as you're a fan of Bouanaparte. Some of the posters here are very knowledgeable and should be treated with immense respect if not adulation. If you need any advice on the subject, then none better to ask than Shane Devries. With a very big library; he owns the complete works of Oman: he's not the sort who gets all his information by 'googling'. He's also a real wargamer.

Unprovoked by me mind you !!

Pygmalion29 Jan 2008 2:48 a.m. PST

Urm…

Nicely painted figures though ;-)
AB?

Steven H Smith29 Jan 2008 2:48 a.m. PST

Shame,

Why don't you see if you can interest Bill in setting up a Napoleonic ‘In The Barrel' Message Board. It is a place where TMPers can place the name of someone they want to excoriate, in the barrel, as it were. If the selected person, or anyone else, tries to defend such a person in any way, shape or form on this board – said person will be banned for a week from the TMP. Each additional infraction will incur an additional one week banning until the fifth infraction at which time the person will be banned to the end of their natural life, or to their death, which ever comes first.

I think we need to end these ad hoc excoriations and get better organized.

Now, just wait – some killjoy will come along a say, "We don't need another Napoleonic board." And, of course, some bleeding heart will say, "Can't we all just get along?" Yucko!!!!!!

How about introducing "The Troll Pit"
Each month TMPers get to nominate two members to be locked in the troll pit to argue the toss.
Members are free to watch and perhaps chant "Two go in, one comes out" if the fancy takes them.
At the end of the month, members get to vote on who gets freed and who gets fed to Frothers.

If I played as many games as this lot argue with each other I would be a very happy camper.

Connard Sage29 Jan 2008 3:44 a.m. PST

If I played as many games as this lot argue with each other I would be a very happy camper.

Games? All the arguing leaves them too mentally exhausted to actually play anything

Anyway, most of the usual suspects proudly proclaim that they aren't wargamers. We are supposed to be grateful for the verbal gymnastics that they undertake on our behalf, the better to enhance our gaming experience…or not

"Pointless pedants picking over pusillanimous postings of other pointless pedants persevering to produce perfect points of interest for gamers everywhere" Or summat

Hastati29 Jan 2008 3:48 a.m. PST

Gosh, it's like the CA board, only during the 19th century!

Palafox29 Jan 2008 4:01 a.m. PST

"most of the usual suspects proudly proclaim that they aren't wargamers"

That's right, and I've always asked myself why. Being a wargamer makes you less knowledgable?. Probably it's because they can argue: your knowledge comes just from playing games so anything you say is valued nothing. That would be an idiotic argument.

Kilkrazy29 Jan 2008 5:38 a.m. PST

You can "stifle" someone if you find their postings annoying.

Determining the exact number of buttons on the cuff of a Bavarian grenadeir in 1808 is nothing to trivialize in a wargame you philistines!

Defiant29 Jan 2008 6:13 a.m. PST

guys, face it, some of you love this crud and get off on it. If you read it then you are as bad as we are…understand ??

For me, I am just sick and tired of this cacadore and his continuous tirade of abuse. Deleted by Moderator I did nothing to provoke him and clearly he is trying hard to gain some warped sense of revenge on me for his dog housing last year and the humiliation he suffered for it.

Frankly, I cannot understand how he has no shame and keeps coming back time after time to start this BS again. He clearly loses every time Deleted by Moderator.

Palafox29 Jan 2008 6:21 a.m. PST

I'd recommend just to ignore.

Plynkes29 Jan 2008 6:24 a.m. PST

You're totally correct Shane, I do love this crud. The almost constant petty bickering is the best thing about the Napoleonic boards.

pointyjavelin29 Jan 2008 6:24 a.m. PST

Shane, on the bright side you are almost certainly a better fig painter than him. Nice figs, likee a lot.

Defiant29 Jan 2008 6:28 a.m. PST

I would be happy to ignore if I knew others here clearly see what this guys does and how he does it. I come here to talk Napoleonics and enjoy it.

If every now and again I get into the thick of it with someone and have an argument fine, not a big deal, however, this guy will just not let up and adds nothing to this site whatsoever that I can see. If he posts it is to attack someone or to impart his own opinions and if you don't agree you are made to look stupid for it. I have seen him do it to so many people just to get a bite.

Are these 15mm?.

They are very good.

French, Polish, Russian, British, Prussian, Austrian, Italian, painted like I wish I could but know I never will…
An original set of rules with loads of research & play behind them…
And you still have time left over to get Bleeped texted off with flamers.

Methinks your glass is more than half full.

Well I can see no reason why you both can't have a Barbi playset. Just play quietly and no pulling each others pigtails.

thx Palafox, yes they are mostly AB 15mm and some Old Glory. I have many more photos to put up eventually.

Shane, I've read your rules. I've seen your figures.
is there a place around your gaming table for me?
donald

dbf167629 Jan 2008 5:59 p.m. PST

Do you call that a library? Mostly bad translations of francophone secondary and tertiary sources that merely repeat old French propaganda with barely a nod to the original sources in the Austiran Army Archives, where it is well known that the truth lies. Unless I had photos of original battle reports (in German) I would be ashamed to call my collection a library.

Just kidding, Shane. I wish that I had all of your books.

Defiant29 Jan 2008 6:04 p.m. PST

Mate, you are more than welcome. We still play on Tuesday nights and also about one Saturday in the month. Next meeting is on Tuesday 19th Feb. Three of us are regulars and about 3-4 other mates who turn up when they are able to.

I painted a fairly large British army several years ago and finally it is coming back for me to use. I will take the opportunity to photograph it and place the pictures on the net.

email me on – sdev2749@bigpond.net.au if ya interested in a game, I will send you my phone number and address asap.

Florida Tory29 Jan 2008 7:41 p.m. PST

Very few 25s are that well painted, Shane. Very effective use of black shading to bring out the detail.

Although the time you have spent getting steamed about Cacadore is time that could have been spent painting up the entire army for Oldenburg in 1/1 scale as well as gaming the Invasion of Russia-twice.

Now, Shane, ask yourself: which would be more rewarding? Which would draw more chicks? Which would earn your place in the great Marshalate of the Skies when we all fire off that last round of cannister?

Trokoshea29 Jan 2008 9:37 p.m. PST

My vote for Oldenburg army in 1/1 scale. :o) Chicks aplenty for the Negro drummer with his bearskin bonnet. Hehehe!

Defiant29 Jan 2008 10:09 p.m. PST

Funnily enough last year we did re-fight the Invasion of Russia, I was the French. The campaign lasted 8 months and numerous battles were fought.

After every battle I was able to bed my wench (wife) only to stir the next day to continue the campaign.

Regards,
Shane

Stavka29 Jan 2008 10:33 p.m. PST

How did the campaign go? Was history turned upside down?

Defiant29 Jan 2008 11:15 p.m. PST

Not so good,

I marched deep into Russia, covered my lines of communication and pretty much held back the Cossacks which were my biggest concern. However, after I closed in on Moscow and concentrated the Cossacks were able to then get around and behind my front and begin to cause havoc.

The North front went horribly wrong with a large battle being lost with huge casualties and losses. However, in the South I managed to push their southern armies' right back and was able to disperse them fairly soundly.

The climatic battle south of Moscow went poorly as I made the mistake of holding a substantial part of my force on a line to the north about 100 miles away hoping to out flank the Russians. The Russians fell back against them with only a small covering force and thus they were sorely needed in the major battle. Needless to say their not being there caused me to eventually lose the battle and had to pull back to Smolensk for the winter.

By then we had concluded the campaign simply because neither side could gain the upper hand for the decisive blow. Was great fun but my mistake with the flanking force cost me any chance of complete victory.

Regards,
Shane

Phew!

So which part of my little post:

'Deleted by Moderator'

…..upset you?

I am obviously missing something here. What is the issue? The post of "and this is what got my goat up !!" with a follioing post from Cacadore doesn't warrnt the vitriol, n'est-ce pas? I would really like to know what I am missing.

It does not matter as long as they stay in this thread and do not hi-jack other threads.

Let them at it I say !

''I am obviously missing something here. What is the issue? The post of "and this is what got my goat up !!" with a follioing post from Cacadore doesn't warrnt the vitriol, n'est-ce pas? I would really like to know what I am missing.''

It took me a while to work out too. Shane will occasionally post an invented 'complaint' against someone. He'll then follow it up with vitriol directed at that person. Another poster (like Broglie here) will weigh in with something like 'let them at it' or perhaps 'both should apologise'….leaving the occaisional viewer believing both are fault and obscuring the one-sided bullying which is at its heart.

Whatever the reason, they seem to dislike humour.

Defiant30 Jan 2008 4:44 p.m. PST

Don't play the innocent and agreived ploy cacadore, you took the newbie threat to a personal level cacadore to insult me and you know it. Don't play innocent with us all my dear fellow. Up until your post no one made any comments on a personal level towards anyone else, you did ! Deleted by Moderator

BTW I was informed that cacadore had done this on a couple of other Napoleonic forums recently. He was dog housed for his attacks on me last year for what I believe was a record 1 month ban. He ran off Deleted by Moderator and began to invade another Nappy forum only to be banned in turn for his personal attacks on other posters. He then (with the other banned associates) started their own website devoted to bashing anyone who did not agree with their outlook on things. This website has about three main posters and that is about it. The website has failed and so here he is again to attack me and whomever he does not like.

You are a Deleted by Moderator cacadore and really need to take a good long hard look at yourself and the way you deal with people. I am only fighting fire with fire. I did not provoke your abuse and I really don't give a….whether you don't believe it is or not. To me and several others here who have emailed me personally your post on the newbie thread was deplorable and uncalled for or provoked.

You took a cheap shot to satisfy some twisted sense of humour you have and think everyone here thinks it was funny. Well mate I am hear to tell you the consensus I have from friends here is it was typical of your low acts and you should be banned for life from TMP just like you have been on other sites.
