RE Finding GQIII ready done ship logs on the www.
HERE IS A NOTICE FOR ALL GENERAL QUARTERS III PLAYERS.
The downloadable ship logs have already been done for WW2. Just not released
yet. These have been in preparation for TWO YEARS. Yes
.its taken that
long because it misses out almost nothing! This has been a huge job and has
taken up most of my spare time in the past two years. When not waving a
paint brush, or writing my game of THE BATTLE OF THE ATLANTIC (In
preparation for release) I have been working on these logs.
In full colour. They cover every navy and every ship of every country where
possible. With very large classes a selection of ships is shown and some
blank ones provided so players can add the name of their favourite models.
Each type is shown in several formats if it had major changes during the war
As can be seen from the complete listing below, there is almost nothing not
covered. Even a large range of merchant ships has been included.
The logs show armament changes, radar changes, changes in AA value and so
forth. They show the number of funnels and various other information needed
in play, including aircraft, hangars, catapults etc as well as changes or
removal of these.
These logs are designed at BUSINESS CARD size. They have been extensively
test played for two years and speed the whole GQIII system up even more.
Once downloaded and printed out, they can be laminated, then cut out. Or put
into plastic sleeves. The cards are of uniform size. The colours have been
chosen not only for the identification of rules issues, but also for high
visibility and ease of use.
In test games it has been found they are most convenient when used in a pack
like cards. Players can quickly look through and if laminated, just use a
felt pen to cross off damages etc.
Each navy has distinct colours and their flags are displayed. This feature
came out of test play when it was found they were far easier to sort out,
and store, if the colours for each nation were individually distinctive.
The logs have been produced in co-operation with Lonnie Gill and ODGW to
ensure adherence to the rules of GQIII and that a high standard of product
was maintained.
It has been arranged that they will become available on the ODGW web site,
but I do not yet have a date. They will be in downloadable Pdf format for a
fee yet to be finalised. This road has been taken because of the extremely
high cost of printing. As Pdf downloads the price can be kept low. Players
can print out what they want.

Test player responses over the past two years have been extremely positive
and most of those who have used these cards have indicated they prefer them
to returning to the current log style presented in GQIII.
