Locally I cannot find Black craft paint (AppleBarrel/Ceramcoat). Wally World, Ben Franklin, etc do not have ANY and cannot seem to get any. Anyone want to speculate why? |

A lot of people suddenly needed black paint. |

Happens every winter, people need something to mark their parking spaces in the snow. |

Surely this is a sign of something far more sinister. I blame Games Workshop. And the Masons. |

I've noticed the same thing at various hobby stores, craft stores, etc. |

Probably have not restocked since halloween. Every November there's a shortage of everything black in the craft stores. They're busy putting out all the red and green christmas stuff. Slowly it will get back to normal. |

I have asked at one store, they had it cut from their last order. Is there something that the "lab" folks found to use in Black Acyrlic paint? |

Just a guess, but I suspect there has been an increase in immigrants from the Netherlands into your fair city. Local retailers were not prepared for the holiday celebration of Zwarte Piet. link |

I'm with Runs With Scissors, though I'd add The Illuminati to the list. |

Its not manufactured in China is it? If it is it was probably pulled for fear of lead or some other contamination. God knows it wouldn't be the first time. |

Funny you should mention China. I finally found some, at Dollar Tree. Though the label says made in USA (DecoArt brand) |

My lodge has found that modellers' style acrylic black paint is perfect for masking the speed gun radar signatures of speeding family cars. That and an exagerrated 2nd degree sign is all that is needed to avoid due process

It's the Canadians. All their Shriners are upgrading from little red cars to black Jags: picture Yeah, I can just see sailing down the interstate flashing Masonic signs of distress

I see my red door and I want to paint it black

Nope, none of the above
with the price per barrel of oil going through the ionosphere, people are substituting black paint for oil, black gold, Texas T, and pouring it right into their motors
black paint is much less expensive these days, unless you count the damage to the motor. |

There has always been a high demand for black paint. People are still trying to get through the backlog. |
