I was browsing Kevin Dallimores sight earlier today and i came across this picture. link and it got me thinking back to the late 80's when i read 2000ad and loved rogue trooper, so i decided on the spot that my next project would be to try and create some rogue trooper Nort and Souther forces. Does anyone know which figures these are that kevin has painted up as troopers?

I know foundry do a couple of models of each style. link

And that citadel used to do a small range in the late 80's (i can't find pics for these – SO Legends suggests the codes were JD10 and JD11) Anyone got pics? very little on ebay.

Also anyone know of any ranges that would pass for Norts and Southers?

Those look really cool!

Does anyone know which figures these are that kevin has painted up as troopers?

The description at the top of the page above the pic indicates SF Copplestone & GZG / FW007 COL.

I do recall the Citadel figures in a really old high double digit White Dwarf, probably in an "Eavy Metal section.

I think Vor Union Special Forces might also work. They're currently shown in the Kryomek topic on this board.

anevilgiraffe05 Jan 2008 10:08 a.m. PST

they're Copplestone Future War soldiers… FW7 by the look… and judging from what it says above the picture, just noticed if gives the range and code… :)

Doh… trust me to read the screen before asking dumb questions.

Shame that there's only 5 in the copplestone range.

VOR – now there's an idea. I have a handful of union troops somewhere…

Any other ideas for nort or southers?

anevilgiraffe05 Jan 2008 10:21 a.m. PST

alot of the copplestone infantry would do it… GI's did have helmets remember…

Insomniac05 Jan 2008 10:25 a.m. PST

FW13 (jungle troopers) and FW14 (bare headed troopers) would also fit in with the 5 blue troopers posted.

I'm not sure who did it but I have several plastic GIs from an old rogue trooper game. They're a little small by modern standards but quite nice. A Venus Blue Genes is with them (I'm not sure if she's from the same set). So looking in the games area of Ebay rather than modles might get something.

I have used Alternative Armies' Khanate troops link as Norts in the past but the seem not to be doing them now but might be starting again this year. I'm at present looking at the modles I used as Southers but cant remember whos they were.

Brandlin: I've been thinking of putting together a platoon of G.I.s myself and wondering the exact same thing. I've been looking at the Copplestone Jungle Troopers – they've got helmets on, and bare arms (gotta see the blue skin!)

jhonpog05 Jan 2008 12:22 p.m. PST

have you checked out the 2000ad site. I was there a month ago or so and I'm sure I saw some Rogue trooper mini's for sale…

Lowtardog05 Jan 2008 12:28 p.m. PST

There are some in the foudnry 2000AD collections but they are not cheap

jhonpog05 Jan 2008 12:32 p.m. PST

yep sorry I am lying a big rogue trooper mini and as lowtardaog says a few foundry ones too. I remember the citadel minis, had a magazine with pics in it they were really cool; norts, southers, traitor general etc.

majormike6905 Jan 2008 12:37 p.m. PST

How about Mongoose MI figures as Norts?

mullah phil05 Jan 2008 1:00 p.m. PST

I bought a bunch of the 2000AD figures in the late eighties. Citadel repackaged them as 'pirates'

anevilgiraffe05 Jan 2008 1:22 p.m. PST

MI in power armour would be better as Southers maybe… Norts had fabric chem suits, Southers had hard chem suits

Brandlin05 Jan 2008 1:49 p.m. PST

Lowtardog – read my original message, i linked to the foundry ones!

This is a nort – as Anevilgiraffe says a fabric chemical suit but the distinctive bit for me is the two eye holes link

And this is a Souther – link

SO i guess MI troopers are much closer to Southers.

I too had a handful of RT citadel figures in the late 80's… and then i sold them all…

Note to self – NEVER get rid of stuff!

Lowtardog05 Jan 2008 1:53 p.m. PST

Sorry Brandlin missed the link and yes the old RT figures were for 200ad and chainsaw warrior as well if memory serves

Brandlin05 Jan 2008 1:56 p.m. PST

ACtually I wonder if Pig Iron's Infantry with the visored head sprue isn't more of a Souther??? link

And the Kolony militia head (second from left in this link ) link is a pretty good Nort? However the rest of the colcony militia figures don't match the norts, so i'd hav to graft the heads onto something else….

and then of course i'd need to model breathing tubes onto both sides…

ho hum this is getting complicated… but hey its the first project of the new year, if i don't make it complicated, then there is a risk i might actually finish it!!!

Brandlin05 Jan 2008 1:56 p.m. PST

Lowtardog – no problems mate.

majormike6905 Jan 2008 2:24 p.m. PST

Yes sorry about that was getting mixed up. Well how about Eureka Soviets in NBC gear as Norts?

Lowtardog05 Jan 2008 3:28 p.m. PST

How about the spacelords from EM4

link

anevilgiraffe05 Jan 2008 5:10 p.m. PST

hmmm, never noticed the Foundry Souther isn't anything like the original Souther design… I'm pretty sure Dave Gibbons Southers had all over hard suits – although this is the best pic I can find by Cam Kennedy by the looks of it… picture

but the MI or the Pig Iron in power armour would definietly do it… clear face plate seems a must though…

oooo Eureka also do heads seperately now link

mrwigglesworth05 Jan 2008 6:04 p.m. PST

Steve Dillon :)

anevilgiraffe06 Jan 2008 3:47 a.m. PST

is that really Steve Dillon? wow… those lines really had a Kennedy look to it – must pick up the graphic novels one day….

Mr Wigglesworth – they are superb, who makes them? can't see them on the Bronzeage site…

mrwigglesworth06 Jan 2008 6:13 a.m. PST

Email David at Bronze age or join the group and ask.
He has a ton of stuff not listed.
I have them and they are cool.

anevilgiraffe06 Jan 2008 9:55 a.m. PST

yeah… I've been suckered in by those beauties as well….

BugStomper07 Jan 2008 5:03 a.m. PST

From memory the Citadel Rogue Trooper range was:

1. The Traitor General
2. Rogue with Gunnar
3. Rogue with Lazooka (and Helm and Bagman)
4. Rogue with Helm, Gunnar and Bagman
5. Venus Bluegenes
6. Nort Trooper
7. Major Magnum
8. That sniper with the black helmet I can't remember the name of.

The Citadel Souther model was actually released as a 40k mecenary figure.

mrwigglesworth07 Jan 2008 5:05 a.m. PST

You got it Brandlin!

anevilgiraffe07 Jan 2008 7:03 a.m. PST
