(Xposted on the VSF board since several people ther showed interested in, and for a few already gamed in, a Lacepunk setting: @ttn ‘BOGDANWAZ', ‘The GREY GHOST', &c
)
50! Fifty! 49th ‘Fict:‘ link to the Kingdom of Saint-Maurice kingdomofstmaurice.blogspot.com added on the Monte-Cristan blog: with the Presipality itself there are now 50 repertoried websites or blogs partly or totally devoted to a Lace Wars Imagi-Nation link = tinyurl.com/2ucrhy (or to a ‘bubble' of fictitious warring neighbors). 36 of them are contibutors to the emperor-elector.blogspot.com ‘Emperor vs Elector' web TMP link campaign.
I notice that at least 18 of them –often devoted to a ‘theatre of operations' involving at least 2 fictitious countries– used the NBA SYW uniforms templates nba-sywtemplates.blogspot.com to display the uniforms of their mythical units. Still only a minority, yet an encouraging factor of ‘visual homogeneity', propitious to the eventual compilation of a ‘Funcken of Lace Wars Imagi-Nations' link
= tinyurl.com/2ymfy4
OK, I DID cheat a little: a few blogs are currently rather ‘dormant' (the pressure of ‘The Real World ™'!), two are provisionally closed. But Argoz-Bern, Ardoberg-Holstein and Rubovia are abundantly documented in the folders of the OSW Yahoo group link Saxe-Burlap und Schleswig-Beerstein, The Grand Duchy with No Name and The Levitzer Rabbinate in those of the SOCDAISY link
: this more than balances that! And several other Lace Wars Imagi-Nations have at least their army described in the archived messages of these two Groups.
BTW, a short description of my blog: Indeed «devoted to the uneventful History of the fictitious Presipality of Monte-Cristo by the mid-18° century, and to boring logorrhean expectorations about fictitious wargame armies and their uniforms by the Lace Wars times link = tinyurl.com/3d22fr ». But ‘Lacepunk' = Lace Wars pimented with a liitle Sci-Fi [http://mcristobylacew-abdul666.blogspot.com/2007/09/lace-wars-sci-fi.html = tinyurl.com/3b4dvr ] (but NOT ‘VSF in tricorns', at least on Earth) and web campaigns (extended to fictitious Countries in North America and, marginally, South Africa [ link = tinyurl.com/2eowo5 ] are also dealed with and illustrated.
There is an overflow of information on the web, messages posted on Groups and boards (such as those of the TMP) pass by and are forgotten, many interesting references and links with them. Thus, in my small, petty, pet domain I try to act as a specialized archivist. Hopefully the blog may be of some interest for a few newcomers, at least for its bibliography / ‘virtual library'.
Of the 95+ categorized links, besides the 49 ‘Fict:', the complement leads to sites or blogs of general (most often ‘Tricorn') wargaming interest. Additionally I also compile links to ‘relevant'(«Tricorned») videos (movies trailers and short excerpts, even a few musicals): currently 10 to battle scenes, some 25 to civilian settings.
When the blog was launched in july the (elderly) blogger was a total novice: being a dinosaur from the age of wired receiver, mechanical typewriter & hand-written International Money Orders, my first attemps at blogging were extremely clumsy and unsatisfactory. With experience, a little skill came. Thus I edited & expanded old posts and (hopefully) improved everywhere both the layout and the English. All posts (currently 39) have now been checked & updated, and I find the result now bearable. But drastic improvements are certainly in order: comments, criticisms and suggestions would be greatly appreciated
