This is the game I ran at my Saturday gaming club for a bunch of 13 year olds + 1 dad, The Defiant player took a while to get the hang of things and really wanted to be a German anyhow so he missed all the shooting, the Blenhiems moved to intercept the 110's and shot down one but the remaining three punched through and pounced on the sleigh sending santa plumeting earthward on turn 4 for a German win. I wrote it for Mustangs/Air Pirates but it should convert to other systems easily enough just make the sleigh equivalent to a heavy bomber.

Save Christmas 1940, A Mustangs scenario

Hitler has developed a dastardly plan; since midnight occurs in Germany first an elite night fighter squadron can be sent up to intercept Santa Claus over France after the German children have received their presents, but before he reaches Britain. This will crush the morale of the British children whose whining will undermine the will of their parents and force them to capitulate.

To prevent this dreadful scenario a scratch force of British night fighters has been sent to escort Santa to the sanctuary of the British coast.

Because I was using this as an intro scenario for new players it was ruled to be a bright full moon and spotting/night fighting rules were not used.

German Forces
4 Bf 110 night fighters: Pilots; 1 Ace, 2 experienced and 1 average. Rear gunners; 2 experienced and 2 average. Start position is 6 hexes southeast of the sleigh.

British Forces
2 Defiant and 2 Blenheim IF night fighters: Pilots; 2 Ace, 2 experienced. Rear gunners; 2 experienced and 2 average. Start position is 6 hexes north of the sleigh.

Santa
Sleigh moves at speed 2 under GM control and must cover 14 hexes heading north. All manoeuvres require 2 hexes and it has defence 2 and 12 damage pts (1 per reindeer) after 4 hits speed drops to 1.

Well done on running this game at the club! Were all the planes your own make, Toaster? I'd be interested to see them, especially Santa's sleigh.

Apparently they did shoot down Santa in Rio tonight:

The planes were my own but for Santa I went to raid the tree only to find we had no sleigh, Asked some of the players to bring one but ended up with a blutack blob as stand in.

I'll post some more photos of my planes after in the new year, I'm working through the break manning the watchroom at the fire section, 24 hours on with nothing to do but read or sleep or MODEL!

Merry Christmas
Robert
