Afraid I have failed, CC, couldn't find them west of the Altantic. Maybe one of our British brethren want to buy and reship for a profit?

Now THAT'S a great idea!

Have you tried ordering it directly from the store noted in the link? They do mail order and they may ship to the US.

The first picture referenced in the 111466 thread looks a lot like what I would expect to see if I put lines of expanding insulation spray foam on a backer board (hardboard or foamcore); let it dry; then and cut it into strips (perpendicular to the insulation lines).

Probably not as easy to replicate at that, but I thought I'd throw it out there for what it's worth.

Although it's more fragile than hardboard or foamcore, you could use one of those translucent (flourescent) light diffuser panels with the 1 inch square grids if you want the square tile effect on the back.

HTH.

Jeff01: The Jewel product doe appear to be an expanded foam product, so that may be worth a go.

I had a bit of a google for US stuff and found this similar looking product:

with the US shop @ pangeashop.com

Another 3D background @ link

and finally these backgrounds look great except I can only find links to sites looking for trade offers : link

ArabianKnight,

Wow. Those are absolutely beautiful. Many thanks!!!

I wonder how difficult it would be to cut them to smaller strips for making long corridors/tunnels.

CC:

You might find similar stuff if you looked under lizard pet supplies. Also, you might find something to what you're looking for at a model railroad site. That would probably be better styrofoam. The stuff I saw at the pet store was the styrofoam made of little balls rather than the styrofoam that is used for insulation.
