"Destroyer Squadron 23" by Jones and available from USNI is a very good read although limited to a very small portion of the Admiral's career (the Solomons Campaign). |

"Admiral Arleigh Burke" by E B Potter. Potter has written excellent biographies of Nimitz and Halsey as well. Potter's biography is probably the best available for Burke. Also in print is "Admiral Arleigh (31-Knot) Burke: The Story of a Fighting Sailor" by Jones and Kelly (USNI Press) Also check out the Destroyer History web site entry: link |
