For years, I've seen the opening line to this on Web search results, and never, ever read the rest: I had assumed it was a serious bit of poetic work! I feel sooo silly now. That is GOOD. Thanks for sharing. |

When I was a kid we used to have a book of these that belonged to my Dad. No idea where the book is now, so it's marvellous to see them again. One of my favourites doesn't seem to be there though (I think); it was about Sam and his refusal to pick up his musket, and the chorus was "Sam, pick up tha' musket." or similar and it ended up with the Duke of Wellington asking him. I'll have to go through all of these to see if I've missed it. Malc |
