I am looking forward to seeing more of this as it gets released! link |
Goldwyrm | 29 Oct 2007 7:24 p.m. PST |
I'd probably enjoy a fun monster island type game but CMGs are a turnoff for me. |
Thornhammer | 29 Oct 2007 7:48 p.m. PST |
CMG doesn't bother me much, eBay is your friend. Giant monster battles with destroyable buildings? Gimme gimme gimme! |
Darkson Designs | 29 Oct 2007 8:07 p.m. PST |
This looks like a great idea. I bet you will see Reaper making monsters for this style of game.LOL |
nvdoyle | 29 Oct 2007 8:12 p.m. PST |
Oh, those are going to get grabbed and converted. |
artbraune | 29 Oct 2007 9:06 p.m. PST |
I was personally thinking grabbed and coveted
My son loves opening the packs of CMG's and eBay will fill in the gaps. Can't wait! Art |
shelldrake | 29 Oct 2007 9:15 p.m. PST |
I am keen to see what other 73 figures will look like
I would most likely get the monsters and buildings to go with Monster Island. |

They could stop a lot of the "heartache" of the collectable scene by selling large packs with 2 random giants(monsters/cyborg space heroe/robo/cybertank/etc.), and a three to five piece group of vehicle/troop squad/hoard of smaller swarm monsters, etc. that are all from one "side" and share a strong visual theme, and several event or power cards to play or enhance the monsters or units with(assuming this has those). And smaller packs with either one giant or three small squads of military trooper stuff. Thus you never know what you'll get but you DON'T get a bunch of lame, mismatched, color coded, horribly out of scale, unusable horse crap, and tons of unwanted cargo trucks and radar vans. I hope they sell any scenery pieces in a sets so people can get something close what they want. Y'know set 1: the reactor complex , set 2: the hydroelectric dam, set three: the city commons, set 4: the sports arena(with monorail), set 5: the government command center with air strip, set 6: the giant rocket base, set 7: The alien hive, set 8: the monster preserve, etc. Oh yeah
they need super villains and scientists who make it easier to find weaknesses in the opponent's stuff during play(sort of a research round). Or maybe I'm totally wrong. It's happened before. I just hope it's WAY the heck more interesting than clicky battletech. |

The whole point of randomly packaged collectibles is to get you to buy "a bunch of lame, mismatched, color coded, horribly out of scale, unusable horse crap, and tons of unwanted cargo trucks and radar vans." :-) |

Infact this is the only cmg i may like to buy, we don`t know what the rules will be like, but big monters fighting, and throw in the army with tanks and planes etc
Sounds like mega fun
Fingers crossed

I used to dislike CMGs until I realised they can be obtained cheaply; can be cleaned up and painted; and their bases can be used as the basis (ugh – sorry!) of conversions. |
Hundvig | 30 Oct 2007 8:13 a.m. PST |
Yeah, even I'm coming around on CMGs. I'll probably never buy a random pack of any of them, but the common singles are often ridiculously cheap buys on the secondary market, and most are pretty easy to repiant. |
Captain Gideon | 30 Oct 2007 8:17 a.m. PST |
From the pictures I see it looks like i'll be getting these and add them to what Godzilla figures i already have. I also hope that they'll have several military vehicles and aircraft in thi set. Captain Gideon |

Hi DZT, Cool link! While I don't much care for "collectible hype" games, I do love kaiju so I might have to buy a few. Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. 6mm-minis.blogspot.com |
wminsing | 30 Oct 2007 9:30 a.m. PST |
Yep, if the minis are good enough I'll have have to hunt down a few packs for other monster-smash-city games, even though I don't like CMG's. -Will |

You know what??? It ain't all that bad. Honestly
The ideal of thrashing a large japanesse city very much appeals to me. I've seen worse game settings ((heh
at least it's not Clicky-WarMachine/Hordes)). And, the protos have some decent uses beyond the realm of the game itself. I mean I can already see some uses for those jet engine wings and the saucer looks like a decent enough single stage cylon baseship. And, let's face it
WarMachine itself is getting very much big for it's britches. They're running out of ideas for the game and it shows with all the stupid pirate felgercarb coming out. The game is fixing to jump the shark, I'm afraid. If this new game can bring in a little revenue for PP? More power to them. They deserve it. Let's see if PP can do a better job with the Clicky thang than Wizkids and WotC, I would so love to see them kick their behinds like they do GW's. *nods firmly* Cheers! |

I was beat to the news first post here. TMP link |

I will buy lots of this stuff. I've been buying CMG's loose on ebay for GMR and Monster Island. Some plastics look good repainted. I have a bunch of the large DnD minis. I don't play the games, I just want some of the minis. They look great next to my Kaiju Gashapons. A friend of mine said he would never buy prepainted minis. He said we both paint better. That may be true, buy how am I going to paint an orange transparent Giant Fire elemental? :) The I am very interested in the buildings they described. These will be very cool.

Can't wait to see if these are 2mm, 6mm, or 10mm. Regardless
I will have to get some anyway. |
GamesHQ | 30 Oct 2007 8:20 p.m. PST |
I believe that these will do well as long as the rules are easy enough to learn and people are excited by the assortment of units included. |
phililphall | 31 Oct 2007 5:28 a.m. PST |
I'd like to see one of these companies follow the Heroscape model. Sell a starter set with specific stuff in it, then sell "boosters" with specific items in them instead of making it random. I really didn't think Heroscape would be as popular as it is but it's still selling. |
Smokey Roan | 31 Oct 2007 7:36 a.m. PST |
Very cool. Can't wait to buy. |
Thieses | 31 Oct 2007 8:12 a.m. PST |
The more I look at these minis, the more I want them. I am very surprised this idea was not already produced. The sculptors are obviously fans of Kaiju. The Robot is very reminiscent of Mikazuki and I love the "saucer". 2008 won't come fast enough. |
Hundvig | 31 Oct 2007 9:26 a.m. PST |
I am very surprised this idea was not already produced. I'm not. There have been quite a few decent kaiju minis rules over the years, several of which are still extant. None of them have bothered with their own line of minis, though. Given the price and quality of Japanese kaiju toys (especially gashapon) Privateer is looking at a tough market to get into. OTOH, those same toys are relatively hard to come by in the US, while Monsterpocalypse should have good distribution here. |
IronMike | 31 Oct 2007 10:43 p.m. PST |
after getting burned on the Battletech clicky game I swore off CMGs, but I'm probably gonna be inhaling a few dozen boosters of this, if only to encourage PP to stop being just another GW wannabe and start persuing novel game concepts. |
tnjrp | 31 Oct 2007 11:15 p.m. PST |
Hmm. Another concept from Privateer that isn't going to make me fatten their coffers to any noticeable extent. They seem to be doing all the right moves by just about everybody else and going absolutely nowhere with me. Go figure. Well, there's just no pleasing absolutely everyone (-:) |
The Beast Rampant | 04 Nov 2007 8:57 a.m. PST |
I think the REAL clincher is going to be the scenics. Who wouldn't want a tiny breakaway city, a la Rampage? |
Miniature Geek | 27 Nov 2007 4:04 p.m. PST |
I may be the only nut who thinks this, but you know what other toys are right in the 60mm range. Those transformers plastic miniatures. They're about 2.5 inches each, roughly 63mm. I'm seeing some fun in the future. I just picked up Monster Island and I'm making a Brawl Character. |
