Has anyone drawn up a list for the Colonial Marines and the Aliens? How many figures per side? Thanks. CC TMP link TMP link TMP link |

I suspect the old technical manual probably has something to say about Colonial Marine TO&E. The number of "matching" Aliens will depend on system and scenario. |

Figures per side depends on circumstances – if the Colonial Marines weren't crippled by their location, they would have wiped the friggin' floor with the aliens. Better circumstances = more aliens to make up for the Marines long range weaponry. |

So far, I have the following: 5 Horrorclix Aliens link 20 or so EM-4 Troopers (including a few of the "sentry guns") link link CC |
Blackhawk1 | 16 Oct 2007 7:31 p.m. PST |
Its not the entire cast from Leading Edge
there is one more not shown that came with the sentry guns and I believe another 4 or 6 aliens, iirc. |

I plan on using the rules from Space Hulk as a starting point and the floor tiles from Doom the board game. I just need to make some blip counters. I guess that means at least ten marines and twenty aliens, but I have many more. However, I plan on reversing the roles for some games so that the alien player has a few powerful units versus an unlimited number of weak cannon fodder humans. |

"I guess that means at least ten marines and twenty aliens, but I have many more." As this will be my first attempt at gaming SF, I may start with a slightly smaller number, until I get comfortable with the game and until more troopers are painted. However, I really appreciate the ratio provided. Thanks! CC |

Pete Jones has a Space Hulk conversion for "Aliens". I think it's on freewargamesrules.com. Or something very clode to that. |

It really comes down to the Marines situation. If the marines have been seperated and are low on ammo in a large enclosure (Space Hulk or Doom tiles are perfect for this) then you could probably have a good game with just the 5 Aliens you have. However, if the marines are in an easily defended position then you will need a lot more aliens. I am just finishing basing up 7 of the horror clix bugs myself. |

I guess I better get more Aliens! :) CC |

Denizen make some very nice marines in true 25mm, and FAD has a list for Orbital marines that look to be based on the colonial marines. Robert |

BTWS, if you want scanner tokens, the Litko ones look really cool (especially in green) I'm considering replacing all my existing 'Space Hulk' tokens (Blips, flames, jammed etc) with Litko ones, as they are really nice
I use the Denizen figures as USCM, Aliens from Eureka and Space Hulk rules, treating USCM as IG, but the 'bug hunt' rules are nice too. |

5150 rules are great for bug hunts, you can play solo with the rules handling what the bugs/xenos do. |

Why not use the Aliens boardgame rules? tinyurl.com/yw7t84 scroll down and the cards and rules are available as a download. |

I've been playing with my Treehouse kids 54mm Aliens, and my Colonial Marine action figures from Japan. I use the old Aliens boardgame rules that Phililphall has linked to. I have 25 54mm aliens and 5 marines + Ripley (I'm working on Vasquez) You can see my Aliens table on the armorcast forum under pics |

Alien tactics from the films/books would come into play on numbers, if the Alien lack numbers they scout/ambush/sneak attack and withdraw when under heavy fire if they have large numbers they attack with mass waves, while also sending limited numbers to outflank/sneak attack from other directions. So with 5 aliens, limited numbers hiding in vents etc. Hitting stragglers and unprotected civilians, while avoiding contact with large bodies of troops. |

A friend of mine got some small flashing green LEDs, and made bases for them that incorporated a battery. We use them for blips in Space Hulk, but they'd be perfect for Aliens, too. |

Thieses, I found the post, but no pic. Is there some other place to see them, or something I have to do, like register, to see the pic? |

phililphall you may have to resister. I can't see the pics on my wife's laptop. OOOPs. I'll try to post them elsewhere. |

Wow, THW's 5150 has some fantastic ideas and suggestions on their rule book (Xenoforms start on page 92). I'm already jotting down notes!!! CC |

Definitely find yourself a copy of the Colonial Marines Technical Manual. I had a copy years ago and it is a fantastic resource. Get it you can from anywhere you can find. I lost my in a move and have regretted it since. |

Do any of you include "facehuggers" in your alien army? Here is a photo from someone's Space Hulk/Aliens game: picture The caption below the picture reads: "Facehuggers and victim. loose facehuggers made of GW Zombiehands! Facehugger on victim is Genestealer hands + Skaven tail." |

I think facehugger traps (ie. "eggs") can be had from several sources. Depending on your rules of choice, they may function more like a landmine than anything else, at least at first encounter. After that they become a form of ambusher/difficult terrain that can be burned out, but at the cost of ammo and a turn when you maybe should have been firing at something else

Those facehuggers are some jumpers though. And, if you don't know that they are sneaking up on you, they gotta present some interesting challenges. CC |
