Looks Interesting! Were you on it, in the 80's?

I am still trying to finish my 1/350 USS Wainwright CG 28, part of the Forestals (sp) task force group. Was snipe onboard the WWT, from 1986-1989. The Kit I am using is a JAG model, (mostly Resin /White metal) Originally labelled as USS Horne.

We'll be having our next reunion, in July 2008 in Jacksonville FL. (Ships link below) The WWT was sunk as a target in 2002, off the east coast.

My father was on the Forrestal in the 80s. Great ship.

I see the Forrestal every time I drive past the back gate to the Naval Station here in Newport. It and the Saratoga are side by side, slowly being readied for their transformation into reefs.

Of course you can mould it, since they do that all the time with kayaks, boats, and even yachts.

You will just be using different materials, on a much larger scale.

It goes without saying that you will need a large gametable to put it on, and an even larger playing area for takeoffs and landings.

Looks like quite the project. Good luck with it!

Very nice project! thanks for sharing the pics.
My father in law was on the Forestall's inaugural crew.
Somewhere we have a certificate that he received declaring that he is a "plank owner."

Anyone tell you; "Your Mad!"?

Wow quite a project, and to think I was worried about building a 1/300th scale submarine…

What a nice Aircraft Carrier!
I have plans to build HMS Fearless for my 6mm modern British miniatures but only managed to purchase a scale plan so far.
Furthermore your photos of the Trojan AVRE with the Engineer Trailer and two of the FRES contenders are very interesting!

Cheers Ben

Shaun, only 6mm…. why not 1-76th?

Man, that is awe inspiring . . . Makes me want to put together something similar on the SF line for an objective with teeth for my 6mm gaming.

thanks for that – good luck with moulding!
