I have yet to read through all three pages so I'm not sure if this one has been mentioned but I always laugh when I read the book again and see it.

Campaign First Newbury 1643. On page 6 is a computer drawn map with the title, England and Wales 1643. Rutland Water is marked about 20 miles north of Northampton.

Rutland Water is a man made reservoir built in 1971. What makes me laugh even more is other than a few major rivers no other physical geography features are marked.

So far it's my favourite Osprey error and I can't help but wonder how it ever got approved for print.

Their Anglo-Irish War booklet has a photo of a trilby wearing chappie firing his pistol on the hoof and being described as an IRA man; wrong, the gent in question (snapped a few seconds before his death) was British intelligence officer Lt Price engaged in shooting dead IRA terrorist Sean Tracy in Talbot Street, Dublin, 14th October 1920.

Hmm. Only just spotted this one. Easy to kick someone else's efforts, somewhat more difficult to do it yourself. I'm very selective about Osprey's books and I do approach them with extreme caution – I prefer to work from original source material.

But what is the point in a thread of over 100 posts rubbishing someone's work? How about a list of positive recommendations instead?
