I know this has likely appeared here before, but I haven't seen this picture.

I think the idea of Martian caverns has every bit as much appeal as canals. I wanna see inside!

I liked this part:
and perhaps were skylights to underground caverns
Houses and office building have skylights…

Of course they could also be the openings for the Martian missile silos which are even now aiming at earth…
