Zophiel has listed some figs available to use as Nemo and crew in 28mm for Nautilus style adventures. Anyone got any other suggestions? Note that he is using an Indian theme for his crew. link Yours in a White Wine Sauce, Paul |

Brigade Games does WWI-era Sikhs too. Wasn't Nemo's crew anti-government rebels from the world over? If so, too many Sikhs will look a bit odd. |

Dear Paul I am also planning something similar. The command minis are OK, this would be also my suggestion. For some crew figures I would suggest Eureka miniatures sailors with heads from their Indian civilians [those with turban] I think that it might work. Another option that might work is Old glory's naval artillery crews with heads swapping from the other ranges of OG. I have not yet tried them, but might work |

Greetings, Paul: In the Disney film version of "20,000 Leagues" the Nautilus crew is dressed as european sailors, in a blue uniform with a small beret type of headgear. The Spanish sailors from Old Glory in the 28mm Spanish-American War series look about right. For Nemo, Parroom Station has a few figures that may work. -- Jeff |

Thanks for all the great suggestions gents! Paul |

I've had the Comet Nautilus for at least a decade. There are a few scale problems in the figures I've selected. Artizan and Perry Brothers seem close to each other but quite tiny next to Foundry and Copplestone. The later two companies' Sikh infantry are very nearly the same size, but it depends entirely on which Foundry pack one is using as a reference. I've promised Paul a review once the paintin process has begun. |

The Sikh Nemo was the theme in "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen". |

And the second book. Although the crew were more varied. |

I understand that the original manuscript had Nemo as an exiled Polish Noble, whose family was killed by Russians. His heritage was subsequently changed so as to not exclude a Russian audience and sales. But yes, in 20,000 leagues Nemo's heritage is vage and barely mentioned. There is far more detail in Mysterious Island. cheers Paul |

In the original, the uniforms that Nemo and the crew wear are very bland and loose. The classical illustrations are perfect for this. And the crew do come from all over, so this would be a field day for anyone wanting to paint a variety of flesh tones. In The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, the crew of the Nautilus seem to wear the same uniform as the Disney version, and prominently include the ex-whaler Ishmael and Broad Arrow Jack. Now Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill are not the ultimate authority, that was just how they interpreted it. |
