Well after a large number of requests and inquiries, I was wondering if indeed people would be interested in me sculpting up a 20mm Wild West line
AND, if so, any suggestions on what to include? The Outlander

A set of Texas Rangers would be nice, along with some Mexican bandits for them to shoot it out with! |

Definitely Mexican bandits. Some Mexican Federales would be cool. Maybe some NOT hollywood characters ala the Duke, etc. Thanks, John |

If you're a good sculptor, go 28mm and give Artizan some competition. Just don't charge their IMO crazy-high prices, especially as in their pulp ranges. $4.75 USD per figure is out of my range, especially when I must supply all the figures. Plenty of figures to do yet. |

YES..! There are many 20mm (HO RR scale) Western buildings available**, but few 20mm figures.. I'd like to see: - 'Personality' figures.. since most Wild West is skirmish, with one figure being one man.. in sets.. for example, Matt Dillon/ Festus/ Doc/ Miss Kitty The Good, the Bad and the Ugly..(duh) Cisco Kid and Pancho Lone Ranger and Tonto.. - Gunfighters (duh) - Light Guns.. like a Gatling - Townsfolk One thought would be VSF type figures.. Take a look at Foundry's and Eureka's and others 28mm stuff for inspiration..:-) Note: No need for Mexicans or Federales.. Raventhorpe already has these covered pretty extensively. ** see seperate post for a buildings list |

What terrainsherlock said. And some figures suitable for the Span-Am War too. :-) |

20mm is not HO. In 20mm one needs: Assorted cowboys--wranglers, branders, cookie Gunslinger Sheriff U.S. Marshal Deputies Hanging judge Texas Rangers Saloon keepers Card sharps Dance Hall Girls Prospectors Sodbusters defending their barbed wire Comanches Apaches Franciscans Revival preachers Wells Fargo stagecoach drivers/guards Bank tellers Telegraph clerks Mexican banditos and federales Pinkertons/Payroll guards Train engineers/conductors/firemen/brakemen Chinese and Irish railworkers U.S Cavalry Scouts Indian Agents Patent Medicine Salesmen Tinkers/Peddlars Barber Piano Player |

and the Magnificent Seven..! (how did I forget them..?) FYI: 1:87 – HO Scale Trains 1/8"=1' (1:96 actual.. 1:87) It's actually a mm scale 1:87.1 or 0.138"=1' but 1/8" is used as a convenience 1:90 – 20mm Soldiers.. also seen listed as 1:89 1:88.5 1:91 Close enuff for me.. |

I was also thinking about a stagecoach, a Rooster Cogburn, and many movie-looking personalities. |

Lots of food for thought

In plastics, 20mm almost always means 1/72, not HO or 1/90. If there's little in HO (there are the railroad characters of course, but not much else), there's little more in 1/72. Most of the existing Wild West kits in 1/72 are 1970's-era Hollywood sets. |

I agree we need more characters: Quanah Parker, Satanta, Little Robe, Big Tree, Lone Wolf, etc. And some bad guys too: Col Nelson Miles, Lt. Baldwin, Billy Dixon, the vile Col Ranald Mackenzie, & the vilest of the vile, Gen. Phil Sheridan
. ;) |

As Terrain Sherlock pointed out Raventhorpe does Mexicans, Federales and Gunslingers, Qualitycast did a range for plains wars that I believe is out of production now though Brookhurst hobbies may still have stock. Imex does cheap wagons and a stagecoach. Musket miniatures also does civilians and various occupations but these may be a little small, I don't own any so I can't say. The qualitycast and Raventhorpe I have are compatible in size. There was a similar thread some time back. |

I would like some dead and injured gunfighters to use as markers in my games. Some Mountain men trappers would be nice. |
| terrain sherlock | 13 Sep 2007 11:41 p.m. PST |
BTW.. note that Raventhorpe does seven *count 'em* seven different poses of gunfighters. I, personally, could use oh.. a couple more poses, anyway.. Maybe even some riding horses..? (Just a wild idea there..) |

Might be nice in 1/72 scale, as most HO buildings and railroad stuff wouild be OK, and all those old Atlantic "HO" re-issues (the plastic Wild West sets) would add plenty of filler figures. I believe IMEX has a new set of 1/72 banditos as well. |

matching sets of mounted and on foot figs |

Smokey hadn't heard anything about Imex releasing Mexican bandits. I know they are planning a Villa set but with Imex that could be 5 years from now. :-) Any news if this set is actually out? Thanks, John |
