Got a friend looking for a good book which can tell the story of WWII.

Doesn't want to read just about the American perspective, nor just the Allies in Europe. But does want to know about the Japanese invasion of China.

Any suggestions?

Anthony Beevor's book – The Second World War. Starts from rhe Sino- Japanese War. I bought it as an audiobook to listen to in the car and whilst I'm painting.

Beevors The Second World War is the best single volume I know of. I'll certainly be interested to see other recommendations though.

I always thought John Toland's The Rising Sun: The Decline and Fall of the Japanese Empire 1936-1945 Volume One
was an excellent source for that perspective.
