Ok here is the latest update I have for the Desu Brigade. I shall make a list of what I have done sometime in the week end to map how I got started and such. Anyway, enjoy this update.

Its that time agian! Update Time for The Desu Brigade!

First of all lets start with Ginji Amano. He got primed (along Ban Mido) and I have painted his skin colour in which is of course, Bleached Bone.

picture
picture

Ban Mido was also primed and his skin colour is agian Bleached Bone.

picture
picture

The commander for the second group has his hair done and got the human uniform, since he is a human after all, which is Regal Blue. I used a very watered down Regal Blue which I will second coat with slightly less watered down Regal Blue.

picture
picture

The hair of the second Bunny Girl was completed so I started on her uniform which, like all Bunny Guys/Girls, will be Komando Khaki.

picture
picture

The Second deamon girls also had her hair done and I then moved on to her uniform which was Blood Red like all Deamon Girls/Guys.

picture
picture

The First Demon Girl is considered complete and I am working on her Vox Communicator. The first stage is making one part of it Boltgun Metal.

picture

I don't know if you can see this or not, but the third human girl has gotten the first plate of her armour coloured. Its Boltgun metal as with all the Humans.

picture

Here you can see three heads. At the very top is my dragon girl's head. The second most top is the Elf Guy and his ears. The last is a Cat girl, but I will make pony tails for her as well to change it around.

picture

And thats its for this update. Comments regarding what I should do next, what type of Guy/Girl should I try to create next will be welcome and appreciated.

How much are you doing this because you like the project, and how much because you think it might go "against the grain" with the 40K crowd?

I admire your originality… although the figures themselves don't do much for me, I must admit.

Katchemash16 Aug 2007 7:39 p.m. PST

Actually I don't plan to go against the 40K grain. I started the Desu Brigade because I wanted to play 40K and yet put my tastes into it. I built them because frankly I collected Lizardmen in the end of 5th edition and quit in the middle of 6th because the painting had gotten boring. Now with me being done with school (for the time being) and working 9 to 5, I wanted another hobby beside the usual.

So I picked my Lizardmen agian and went to some sites. I knew 40K existed but never got into it. Something just clicked and I decided to do it my way instead of painting by the rules.

The resulting anger came from within the community and I never honestly thought it could produce something like this.

Duck Crusader16 Aug 2007 7:47 p.m. PST

Why not googlie eyes?

cloudcaptain16 Aug 2007 7:47 p.m. PST

What's the armor save on a noggin like that?

15mm and 28mm Fanatik16 Aug 2007 8:01 p.m. PST

Good job. Not my 'cup of tea' but to each his/her own. I also commend you on your creative inspiration.

Sheikh Navarrone16 Aug 2007 8:07 p.m. PST

BRACE FOR IMPACT! Desu~

Charles Marlow16 Aug 2007 9:15 p.m. PST

Funny… but, will other 40K players want to play against them?

JimSelzer16 Aug 2007 10:21 p.m. PST

sorry but this is a bit too over the top

Palafox16 Aug 2007 11:38 p.m. PST

"Comments regarding what I should do next, what type of Guy/Girl should I try to create next will be welcome and appreciated."

None, you are too ambitious and I'm afraid you're missing the point. Creating a new head from scratch is not easy and shouldn't be taken lightly. That's a heavy convertion.

You should start with small and easy convertions, like adding a moustache to a mini, a new plate of armor, etc.. Keep doing it that way until you have enough practice and do not jump so quickly onto these big projects. (Advice I learnt from Adrian Bay, one of the best miniature scratch-builders in the world and best person).

If you do not want that degree of expertise and feel so proud of your actual job to show it then be ready for criticism. As for now, the convertions are horrible.

CthulhuPunk17 Aug 2007 1:46 a.m. PST

I think these are great!
It's nice to see someone bucking convention and creating something which so completely appeals to their creative idiom.
I like the whole 40k fluff and feel but have no problem with someone, to paraphrase Fleetwood Mac, 'going their own way' with it.
More power to your sculpting tools! :)

floating white bear17 Aug 2007 4:54 a.m. PST

My reaction to this is like my reaction to South Park. Maybe clever and maybe funny, but the execution leaves much to be desired. (Sorry I cant't get past South Park's 5-year-old style animation.) Rob.
Look up the Simpson's Marines or Pink Panther Marines for a clever well executed spoof.

Chogokin Fezian17 Aug 2007 5:16 a.m. PST

Katchemash, have you ever considered getting into Napoleonics?

nazrat17 Aug 2007 5:18 a.m. PST

LOL, Chogokin!

Katchemash17 Aug 2007 5:50 a.m. PST

@ Palafox: Thats your opinion. I don't really think they are bad in fact I think I am getting better and better as I go along. Of course, they are not going to be used to start a line or be published, but to me, they are a beautiful peice of work which I admire and like.

@ Duck Crusader: No google eyes because I don't like google eyes. Plus since this based on actually Keychains from my trip to Japan, I don't want to deviate to much.

@ ostgrenadier: Don't know. They should because it follows all the rules and that all the parts (even the green stuff) comes from GW.

Caesar17 Aug 2007 5:55 a.m. PST

If I still played 40K, I'd play against these. 40K players like to take their world as seriously as historical players, but there are so many fantasy elements that they are willing to accept I can't see why the would suddenly become so entrenched in 'reality'.
This army is unique, it's personal, it's got more work in it that most of the others you see out there.

Scurvy17 Aug 2007 6:35 a.m. PST

Not quite as amazingly weird and Bleeped texted up the second time around. Might have to come up with a new joke to keep em laughing Kat.

Maybe a badly sculpted line of Naps as previously mentioned. Lets face it the old men that do that would Bleeped text kittens of rage upon seeing your visual rapine of wellingtons british or french imperial guard.

The other bonus is many of em would have no knowledge of your previous 'efforts'

Still not bad comedy but as I said earlier keep it fresh.

SauveQuiPeut17 Aug 2007 6:48 a.m. PST

Still don't see any of them over a glass of milk…

ravachol17 Aug 2007 7:36 a.m. PST

great conversions, would find it fun to play against…
about the sculpting critics, I think it's good work for the aim (anime version of WH40k) and the more you develop yer project the better they'll come out. I would't have gone that way myself (Had problems playing anime video games when there was hudge head/ smallbody characters) but I enjoy the fell and some japanese traditional characters also came with bodies and head diferent from "normal" anatomy.
most of all doing your own figs is much funnier then just converting existing ones so that they look as the original manufacturer could have done. It also give oportunities to get what you want them to do (like the jumping and firing one) .
about Scurvellian Scurvellious complain, quite sure that a bozz or two would have convinced him to play against this army if within bounduaries… could have given a stranger feel of 2 radical opposites wiews in conversions both outof range from original GW (at least actual comercial core).

Crusoe the Painter17 Aug 2007 8:07 a.m. PST

Oh man, google eyes would be awesome… :)

CeruLucifus17 Aug 2007 10:07 a.m. PST

Plus since this based on actually Keychains from my trip to Japan …

So it IS based on something. I asked on an earlier topic what "Desu Brigade" referred to but I think the question got lost in all the hate.

Can you link to somewhere I can see the original source material? I'd like to know what your reference is before commenting on your results.

And I admire your spirit in conceiving and carrying out a project like this. I personally would never attempt an army where every model has a converted head and many have converted poses.

Duck Crusader17 Aug 2007 10:26 a.m. PST

'Plus since this based on actually Keychains from my trip to Japan, I don't want to deviate to much.'

Ahhh. I thought you were going for a BESM look. Ok, in that case, why not the standard bubble gum anime eye? The completed models I saw looked as if you'd used drawn or magazine eyes for them.

Katchemash17 Aug 2007 12:37 p.m. PST

@ Duck Crusader: The Eyes are standard anime eyes as drawn by me. picture

Is the template I use to cut the eyes and paste on the models.

@ donrice: The Desu Brigade came from using Desu the japanese word for "is" and Brigade. Translated its called the "Is Brigade". However this is not the real name. In the fluff, I have those who found them call them the Desu Brigade because that what they hear on the static sort of like "bzzzt….Desu…..bzzt..Ha…Desu". So they are called the Desu Brigade.

In the fluff terms, they are sort of the overseer of the Universe. They came from another dimension when Tentaclerabbi (not rabbi as in Jewish, but rabbi as in Hammurabbi) fled the dimention and popped up in the 40K one. There Tentaclerabbi fell into a deep slumber. The followers of the Anime Universe Emperor ordered the expansion into the other universes so one of the invasion force landed into the 40K universe. When they entered the they found a planet in sub-space, not really in the 40K world, but not really out of it either. Landing there, they observed Human growth. Finally went the found a soul who they could convert, they landed on Earth and took the 40K Emperor away and preformed tests and experiments on him until he lost what made him unqiue and he became Kitami-san's (the leader of this particular invasion force) puppet.

The Usual 40K story goes but with Kitami-san controlling the movements and expansion of the Imperium. The Horus Hersy had happened because Kitami-san had gotten tired of the puppet. When he didn't die, she held move sway over the Imperium because of the religion the puppet had cause. Happyliy she ordered the invasion to begin with the Orks, Necrons, Eldar, Dark Eldar, Tau and one by one they came into her control. Of course, he has the Imperium constantly at war to cower the Imperium as it controls a large portion of the Controlled area.

Of course, this war woke up Tentaclerabbi who defeated and absorbed the 4 Chaos Gods, and projected avatars at the Chaos Marines thus aquireing his own Army. Kitami-san sensed him and he sensed the invasion force and currently both are headed for showdowns although fights already errupted which resulted in various planets being destroyed along with Tentaclerabbi's followers.

The Tyranids while not conquered are afraid of the Desu Brigade and Kitami-san who has a virus that will go directly to each and every Norn queen that there is and destory it if they are ever attacked regardless if it is infected through Ripper or a Hive Tyrant. They are allowed passage between the various subsections of space that the Tyranids control and in return the Imperium is left open provided it is not an area of operations for her invasion force or where her invasion forces bases.

There are various groups within the invasion force that were used to set a basis for the Space Marines. The Sakura Marines and the Saber Marines are two of the most deadilest forces in her invasion force.

That basically is the story and the background (a condenced version of it. There is a longer one with more story, but this one should suffice.)

The models are based on Keychains which you can see here. Of course the heads aren't the same but the idea you can see.

I forgot to add that the first ten are known as the Kawaii (Cute) group.

ZandrisIV17 Aug 2007 1:22 p.m. PST

You know what they remind me of? These guys:

picture

While your style is… interesting to say the least, I think that you could refine your basic technique a little. Like, for example, making each "strand" of hair out of a single cylinder of putty?

A better way of executing your "Desu Brigade", IMHO, would be to stock up on dozens of those chibi keychains and gasaphon figures from any conceivable anime that catches your fancy, then behead the lot and attach the heads to your cadian guys. Primer and paint. Then all the sculpting you have to do would be figuring out how to execute gravity defying boobs.

Cheers

CeruLucifus17 Aug 2007 1:46 p.m. PST

Thanks for that explanation.

… they are sort of the overseer of the Universe. They came from another dimension when …[snip]
Okay, you've made up a story background for the army that fits in the 40K universe. Lots of players do that. Yours is bigger in scope than typical, but I don't see that as a problem, though I suspect you might get some aggression from players who feel loyalty to the official background.

But it's all just a game, right?

The models are based on Keychains which you can see here.
Thanks, that was what I was after. I guess I could ask if the keychains tie to some specific anime story but really the photos of the keychains are enough, since they are your reference.

Why did you choose to do the hair in this particular sculpting style, that looks like multiple tentacles? That seems to be a big thing people object to. Seeing as the keychains have (for anime models) properly scaled human hair, the more traditional sculpting portrayal would be a solid curved mass with parallel lines pressed into it. Did you try that and decide you didn't like it?

Also, how come you went for flattened round disks for the heads instead of 3D heads like the keychains have? Again, the flat heads seem to be something people particularly don't like.

ZandrisIV:
… stock up on dozens of those chibi keychains … then behead the lot and attach the heads to your cadian guys …
I think this is how I would have approached the same project.

Katchemash17 Aug 2007 1:47 p.m. PST

@ ZandrisIV: I like doing the hair the current way. Its more interesting on what comes out. Also I would never behead the key chains.

Duck Crusader17 Aug 2007 3:02 p.m. PST

ZandrisIV:
… stock up on dozens of those chibi keychains … then behead the lot and attach the heads to your cadian guys …

No true anime fan would ever deface product, if they did the rest of us would gut them.

Ash; I see, I think the problem is one of contrast. Either that or they're just not coming through well in the pictures. Perhaps, just as a suggestion, you might try painting the eyes directly onto the green stuff. There are a variety of fine point marking pens you can use to draw an outline first.

Another suggestion, if you've ever seen Dominion Tank Police, is that the Renault FT-17 in 1/35 scale makes an excellent Anime tank with a little conversion, and works well with 28mm figs. For when you're ready for a little armor support.

Scurvy17 Aug 2007 3:18 p.m. PST

Its a joke guys. Not serious.

Katchemash17 Aug 2007 3:26 p.m. PST

@ Scurvellian: How can it be a joke when I already spent money and have already bought 2 more boxes of Cadians to complete my Brigade. To you it maybe a joke, but not to me. I plan to do a 1000 point of them.

@donrice: The hair I do it that way because it comes out a different style each time. True I could make the hair fatter or thinner, but I quite like the resulting hair that comes out. The same could be said of the face.

@ Duck Crusader: I promise to try and get the eyes better for the next batch, but for these the eyes have already been printed out. As for the armour, I was thinking of doing a tank like thing as you suggested or making a mecha musume sort of figure.

Duck Crusader17 Aug 2007 6:01 p.m. PST

Scurvy; Wether it's a joke or not isn't important. As long as Ash says he's really doing this I'm willing to discuss it, if only for the sake of throwing ideas around to see what sticks. It's mental exercise.

By the by, if you posted your backstory I know why they hate you. You went through a herd of Fanboy sacred cows with an evicerator on that one.

Nothing wrong with the eyes you've got if you like them, just offering a suggestion to help them stand out more if you'd like. I find the eyes are generally the most distinctive part of an Anime character's face, so when I do one I like them to be distinctive. Not that big a bubblegum fan, but the general concept carries over.

Katchemash17 Aug 2007 7:31 p.m. PST

@ Duck Crusader: I know, and I thank you for suggestions. I know alot more people have commented on them (both negative and positive) and I have taken advice from people who are decent enough to talk to without angry fanboy rage coming up the wazoo.

Update time for The Desu Brigade!

First up, we have new members to the Desu Brigade, the Itoshii Mure. The first is an Elf Guy. How do we distingush between my Elf girl and Elf Guy? The guy has the earing on his ear.

picture

Second up we have the first Dragon Girl. The things on top of her head are those balls found in Chun-li from Street Fighter with ribbons. I think she looks totally Itoshii.

Thats it for this Update. Comments regarding what I should do next, what type of Guy/Girl should I try to create next will be welcome and appreciated.

Also I am trying to find swords to make my first Diorama, a battle between Tentaclerabbi's Greater Demon and Saber/Sakura from the Desu Marines. I was looking at the Dark Angels. Anyone know if the swords in the HQ of the DA are one piece or seperate? And Master of Ravenwing on the Jetbike, is he one piece or multi-peiced?

Duck Crusader17 Aug 2007 9:05 p.m. PST

Generally, the swords come with hand attached but separate. There are a few models that are one piece tho. The Master is a multi-part model.

Katchemash19 Aug 2007 8:29 p.m. PST

Well, its time to update The Desu Brigade!

These are the three more members of the Itoshii Mure. The Third Cat Girl, a Demon Guy and a Bunny Guy.

picture

Here is the last head for the Itoshii Mure and I shall be done with my second 10. He is the Bunny Guy.

And I bought some sheet Styrene to start the Air boards for the Eurkea Seven Rough Riders.

picture

Thats it for this update.

Duck Crusader19 Aug 2007 10:14 p.m. PST

'And I bought some sheet Styrene to start the Air boards for the Eurkea Seven Rough Riders.'

Now, I'm really interested in how that one turns out. That's one of my favorite recent Anime.

Katchemash20 Aug 2007 7:21 a.m. PST

@Duck Crusader: Yeah its one of my favorite Manga series and I only have seen bits and peices of the Anime. Once the Manga has been done, I shall watch it.

So I have never worked with Sheet Styene before. When I bought it the train store guy told me I could use an exacto knife and cut the select peices by using the knife to cut the peice and then breaking it over a straight edge. Anyone have anythign else to add? Can't I just cut it with an exacto knife or do I really need to break it? Any advice on using it?

CeruLucifus20 Aug 2007 12:07 p.m. PST

More specifically, with sheet styrene the usual method is to score it, then snap along the score line. It snaps clean so this works great.

You can of course cut it all the way through but with thicker styrene, it usually takes multiple passes and if the knife slips you can end up with a ragged cut. Also it will dull your knife blade faster.

With the the scoring method, you ideally use a new/ very sharp blade so you can score with light pressure.

General safety tip with edged tools: Dull blades / more pressure => harder to control => more chance of a painful accident. :)

Styrene is a great modelling material to work with; you can sand or file it, and the glues are solvents so the bonds are chemical welds, quite strong.

CeruLucifus20 Aug 2007 12:10 p.m. PST

Oh to do curves with styrene, think of it as a series of straight cuts. Do a square cut, then a straight cut across the corner, then a straight cut across those two corners, etc. When there's only a small amount of corner poking out, sand or file it into the curve you want.

Katchemash20 Aug 2007 6:51 p.m. PST

@donrice: Thanks for the info, I shall use it.

Well, its time to Update The Desu Brigade!

The first update is the Demon Vox Com Girl for the Kawaii Mure. The speaker's back was painted Mythril Sliver.

picture

The Third Human girl for the Kawaii Mure has gotten the top half of the armour painted Beaten Brass as well as the back. The little clip on the top and the armour jetting out from the back have been covered with Chaos Black.

picture
picture

The commander of the Itoshii Mure had gotten his lower mouth painted Blood Red to make it appear as if he has a tongue. I don't know I think it looks good to me. Also his belt buckle was painted Boltgun metal.

picture

With Ginji Amano, I painted his jacket with Catachen Green.

picture
picture

For Ban Mido, I painted his glasses Chaos Black and the frames Boltgun metal. His lens will stay black as thats in the Manga.

picture
picture

The Demon Vox Com Girl for the Itoshii Mure has gotten her hair painted with the new foundation colour Darksun. Its pretty cool and better with coverage than Bad Moon Yellow, though I would like it to be lighter and brighter.

picture
picture

The Dragon Girl for the Itoshii Mure has gotten her hair painted Blood Red. I think I will make each Dragon Girl's hair different to make th appearance that they are different dragons. For her, her hair is red because she's a red dragon.

picture
picture

I finished the Elf Guy from the Itoshii Mure's hair to be Ice Blue. I think it look good because he's a guy.

picture
picture

Thats it for this update. Comments/Questions and Queries welcome.

Katchemash23 Aug 2007 8:48 p.m. PST

Well its time to update The Desu Brigade!

Ok, having gone to GW and picking up a Space Marine Combat Squad for the bolters and picking up a Space Marine Commander for the swords and other stuff, I finally don't need anything else. Hopefully.

Anyway, the first one today is the Bunny Guy from the Itoshii Mure. I painted his skin with a mixture of the foundation paint Darksun and Skull white. I quite liked his colour result. Then I painted inside his ears Ice Blue. Then his Hair was painted Chaos Black. I think I need more hair colours since the ones I have are currently getting the same.

picture
picture

The Commander for the Itoshii Mure is getting his armour painted. His first layer was shining gold and the second would be a bronze or maybe a mythril silver colour. I haven't really decided yet.

picture

The Cat Guy from the Itoshii Mure had gotten his skin painted with a mixture of Beastal Brown and Skull white. Then his hair was coloured with Firey Orange and the clothes (which I did because I forgot to do the hair) was painted with vomit brown.

picture
picture

The Elf Guy has gotten his uniform painted in the normal Elf colours of Scaly Green. His boots and pockets are also painted with snakebite leather.

picture
picture

The Dragon Girl for the Itoshii Mure has gotten he pom-pom thingys on her head painted with Regal Blue and then Ice Blue was used for the ribbons and a strip of Skull White was also added.

picture
picture

The Demon Guy for the Itoshii Mure has gotten his hair painted beastal brown and the uniform painted the regular Demon colour of Blood Red.

picture
picture

The Demon Vox Com Girl for the Itoshii Mure has gotten her uniform painted Blood Red which is the regular uniform colour and the boots and pockets painted Snakebite Leather.

picture
picture

Ginji Amano for the Itoshii Mure has gotten his belt buckle painted Boltgun Metal and the first layer of armour is painted Chaos Black.

picture

The Demon Girl for the Kawaii Mure has gotten her armour coloured in normal demon colour of Tin Blitz and the back was painted with Boltgun metal.

picture
picture

Ban Mido for the Itoshii Mure has gotten his coat coloured as Catchen Green and his belt as Snakebite Leather.

picture

The Human Girl for the Kawaii Mure, has gotten her sholder pads painted Boltgun metal and the the gun has gotten its small parts painted Chaos Black.

picture
picture

The Bunny girl for the Kawaii Kure has gotten her armour painted Dwarven Bronze.

picture
picture

The Vox Deamon Girl from the Kawaii Mure is finished and I have finished painting the rock where the Vox is. I just have to wait for the Goblin Green to be dried and base it and I am done her.

picture
picture

As you can see my full concentration is on the Desu Brigade and thus almost everything else is put away.

picture

Thats it for this update. Comments/Questions and Quires welcome.

Oh also I shall be fighting my first 40K game sometime in September or October. So the please stay tuned as I will post pictures on the net.

Duck Crusader24 Aug 2007 2:48 p.m. PST

Ash, the only thing I see that's really screwing up your execution is those eyes. I really think you're selling yourself short with the cutouts. I know I've said this before, but it's killing me. Seriously, any hobby store(Not necessarily game store) carries those markers I was talking about. I know you'll love it if you try it, and you've already proved you can draw them just fine.

On a game note, all infantry armies that aren't composed of hordes of cheap troops have a hard row to hoe in 40k. You probably want to think about that tank or mecha before you play.

Katchemash27 Aug 2007 9:17 p.m. PST

Well, its that time agian! Update for The Desu Brigade and this time its large!

First of all a bit of sad news. My Ginji Amano cannot be with his friend, Ban Mido because apparently Army Builder somehow allowed me to take a Grenade Launcher and a Flamer Thrower which isn't possible in the same unit. So I have to remove him and place him in another group. Sorry Ginji T_T. Thankfully I have fixed the error and now I am building a Missle Launcher thanks to the heavy weapon box I have.

Anyway, the first is big news. I worked on the commander of my 1000 point force. I wanted him to be more different and active going around so I first built this base. It represents a Tentaclerabbi Marine impaled with heads of other Tentaclerabbi Marines laying around the base. The second stick thingy is used as a banner pole for the commander.

picture

Then Presenting the commander himself. He's got a Space Marine Commander's Sword Arm and the commander's storm bolter. I also gave him a jumping pose and this seriously is the most detailed head I have done so far.
The Gre

Then I started on the third group, the Uruwashii Mure, and I have the commander done. I took her chain sword, cause she has one, and cut/sanded down the chains. I don't like the chain sword so I took a peice of Plasti Card and cut a sort of sword like shape and glued it on there. The green stuff is like an organic metal on the sword to help fix it. The storm bolter was created by taking two bolters, sanding them down and gluing them.

So my first game was agianst the Death Guard.

The game was great frankly. Pity no one else wanted to play. I really wanted to get another game in. Anyway, we set up. I learnt that I should pay attention to my list. I had melta bombs and a master crafted weapons and I forgot to use them. D'OH!

Anyway, most of the turns were me shootiing (Unsuccessfully the majority of the time). I did manage to whittle one of the Death Guard units down to one man.

What I learnt is

a) Learn and use what your veteren sergents and commanders have
b) Templates are good. While the mortars didn't work perfectly I feel I had rolled better it would work.
c) Rockets are good and I should use them more.
d) I should use flamers cause I didn't use them
e) I should have a lascannon or a autocannon in there somewhere
f) Have a Balisk or Russ. They give of world of hurt. Especially to marines.

Also, if people are interested in the reaction that my Desu Brigade got, well suprisingly they weren't that bad. Well, I guess the staffers already knew about them. The other people were like "Woah, what's going on there?" Or one guy saying that was cool. Or on saying "What cool helmets" and I had to correct him saying they weren't helmets. The opponent mostly pointed out that they were the Anime heads.

Otherwise, I had a ton of fun.

Told ya to get a tank…..

Katchemash11 Sep 2007 7:08 a.m. PST

Don't worry about the lack of updates. I am still currently doing this project, but am going to unveil something big on friday. 5 Cookies to anyone who can guess it! So wait until then please!

Katchemash12 Sep 2007 3:24 p.m. PST

So I finally bought my Legion of H Sisters of Battle.

I got:

1 x Blister of Sisters with Special Weapons (Blister)
1 x Sister with Heavy Flamer (Blister)
1 x Sister with Multi Melta (Blister)
1 x Seraphim Superior (Blister)
1 x Repentia Mistress (Blister)
1 x Sisters Repentia (Blister)
2 x Battle Sisters (Blister)
1 x Sisters Imagifier (Blister)
1 x Sisters of Battle Seraphim (Box)
1 x Arco Flagellants (Box)
2 x Sister of Battle Squad (Box)

That gives me 26 Sisters of battle, 1 SoB Flamer, 1 SoB Storm Bolter, 1 SoB Heavy Flamer, 1 SoB Multi Melta, 4 Repentia, 6 Seraphim, 1 Imagifier and 6 Arco Flagellants.

I know my list was different, but I couldn't resist the SoB Models and the artwork.

So I have a question, is a pure Sisters (or semi pure, I want the Arco Flagellants) really workable?

Duck Crusader12 Sep 2007 4:31 p.m. PST

They can be devastating in close combat, particularly against lightly armored opponents. One tactic which has struck me is the flamer heavy squad, mounted in a vehicle which has a heavy flamer. This scoots up next to a target and deploys, then blankets in in promethium. If they use their faith points in conjunction they have a chance to achieve 1+ AP!

Ok, I promised you guys I would show a secret on Friday and now, its Sunday. Yeah, I am late, but here it is. Showing for the first time, the Desu Brigade's first warmachine, Omega Z-Bal:

This is just his body and I haven't sanded him or built up his bulk in armour. Also I have to ask you guys how do I build his hands. I was thinking of using Plasticard to cover the hand holes and using Paper clips which I cut, glue it on with super glue and then green stuff it. But I am looking for any other suggestions which would be helpful. Also what do you guys think?

ZandrisIV17 Sep 2007 4:01 p.m. PST

Before you think about building hands, can I make a suggestion that you insert joints at the knees and elbows? Right now the 'war machine' looks like an animated statue out of a Sunday morning cartoon…

For the hands, at this scale, grabbing some Gundam manipulators would probably be a good move. If you insist on building them, use plasticard for the palm, and then drill along the edges to insert wire 'fingerbones'. Sculpt fingers with green stuff. If you plan on just making the hands fists, then just use a chunk of plasticard and carve it into shape, shouldn't be difficult.

Cheers
