How are these models? Accurate? Is assembly easy? The scale seems like a good size, was curious what people thought of them, thanks! |

I have a bunch of them and they're quite good. I used to use the Valiant galleys and these are about twice the size. The detail is exquisite and they sell accessories packs that enable you to add castles, ballistae, and catapults. Assembly is simple so long as you have a flat surface to work on. The oar banks fit into the hull nicely and the figures are very sturdy and serviceable for wargaming. I've ended up liking these much better than the Valiant ships, which were pretty generic in the days when I had them, and better than the Triton ones I had some years later because these are much more detailed and the casting is crisper. |

Hi, Very nice models that are easy to construct. Once crew, towers and catapults are added they look fantastic. The only thing that I change on the models is the masts. (Although, historically, taken down before action I always think models look better with them up.) They are provided with the kits in white metal, but I replace them with .047 piano wire and glue the furled sails on with Araldite. You can't go wrong buying these models – they are a perfect wargame scale with a bit of weight to them. |

I must have had a duff batch 'cos I thought they were b****y awful, ill-fitting and horrible to put together! |

I've bought mine in several batches over time and each was just fine. Maybe if you got yours all at once, you got all the bad ones that should have ended up in my hands :) |

..I have sold hundreds of them over the years and have never received a complaint.

I like them but feel that for the scale, they could have done much better with the details. They are also made in such a way that areas that should be hollow are filled for ease of casting. There is also a rather peculiar woodgrain pattern carved into the siege tower mounted on two hulls. The knots in the wood would probably be three or four feet across in that scale and the planks would have to come from trees twice the size of giant sequoias! But other than that, they are fine

If you need a few, I have more than I will ever use. Email me and I'll send you a list of what I've got. Now that I got my teaching job I'm getting out of the hobby and want to send away some of my unused lead by-products, LOL. dsherwood at netrax dot net |

Well now that I added about two dozen more galleys I am looking for images of Xyston Galleys with the towers, engines, and crew painted. Anyone got a site? VR James Mattes |
