AaronT "I've seen something very similar, but done in thin wood, at the last historicon. They looked very nice and I believe they even had buildings. Sadly, I neglected to look at the name of the maker. the ones I saw were ACW flats." I would love to find these figures, if anyone has heard of them. Thanks |

Do they have a web address? My google skills have thus far failed to locate one

I donīt think so. When I bought some Foreign Legion figures about 10 years ago, they mentioned a ACW range as a new release. I myself would be very interested in new informations about this company. |

Based on Marcus' reply, I got this off the web: Windcatcher Graphics makes fully-painted or printed 25mm wooden flat soldiers and accessories of Foreign Legion subjects. Contact them at: 1902 Prelude Drive; Vienna, VA 22182-3346 USA; (703)938-0376 |

I have a bunch of the legion and some of the ACW. I am beginning to think about getting rid of them but if I could expand them I might look at keeping them. I thought they had just stopped producing them since I had not seen them in a number of years at Historicon or ColdWars. |

I spoke to the guy this weekend, and they are still in production. @JeffGrein Since you have some of these, how do they look? I was hoping for a nice, primitive, toy soldiery (that a word?) feel, that would nonetheless allow good miniature gaming play. How are they mounted? What do you use for terrain? Thanks |
JeffGrein | 30 Jul 2007 4:27 p.m. PST |
They look pretty good. I have used the same terrain that I would use for my regular figs. I have mainly gamed with the legion figs. I just based them on a piece of tan cardstock which blended in nicely with the tan felt that I used for desert terrain. It is a very nice look. If you send me your email I will be happy to send you the couple of boxes of ACW that I have. I got them just to check them out and they are just sitting around. My email is: grein at aol dot com I might be willing to sell my legion as well if anyone is looking for them. I could make someone a good deal for it if they want them. Just too many things to game and not enough time. |

Void, did the guy tell you, if he has an e-mail adress or a website? Thanks |
Void Trekker | 31 Jul 2007 7:55 a.m. PST |
Marcus: Nope, he is still fairly primitive, computer-wise, though he says he is getting a website together. Right now, all the contact info I have is what I've given. |

There was an article about these in one of the Wargames Illustrated issues a few years back. I can't recall which one though. |

If someone's still interested, here are a couple of pictures of games using wooden figures. Also follow the link to shambattle, there's a battle report using the Windcatcher Woodens. link |

I remember this guy. He used to get a dealer table at the NOVAG conventions years back. It was really well done stuff. |

The real question is, "Is why is this on the convention board?" |
