Zvezda, HaT, and Italeri. HaT has full ranges. Zvezda and Italeri ranges are a little more limited but their figures are very nice sculpts. See here: link Cheers Squash |

I used for DBA – Zvezda Romans, the Hat versions get bigger by the set so end up at least 25mm by the time you get to the Punic Wars catapults set. Carthaginians; Zvezda infantry, HaT command, HaT elephants, HaT Numidians (now I would use the Zvezda version). Macedonians; I went for HaT to get the variety, one box of each plus leftovers can turn out a number of different DBA armies. No comment on the Gauls, though the Italeri set looks good. Maybe one day. Game on. |

I have Hat Romans but now look enviously at the Zvezda Romans. If I were starting over

My figures for this period are mostly HaT along with some Airfix, Italieri and Zvezda. If I never have to paint a Gaul again it won't be too soon
.(the guys without any clothes are easy enough though). |

No one touches HaT for depth. They have more specific sets than any other plastics that I know of. Having recently converted the boardgame C&C: Ancients to 1/72 minis, I came to appreciate their broad range. Here's the figs I used to convert the game, all HaT except for the chariots: link That said, Zvezda consistently makes the sweetest figs out there (IMHO). |

Zvezda all the way, agree. Just started replacing all my HaT infatry with Zvezda. Beautiful Republican Romans/Carthaginians. |

Some of the HaT range is quite old, about 10 years old and cannot be compared with the newest figures today. But some of the HaT figures such as the Italian Allies or Carthaginian Allies are quite well done and still stand up against any figures today. One thing that no one ever mentions is the research done on the figures. thebigE, do you think it's possible for us to post some of those pictures in your link on our ETS pages? They're something completely different and I think the viewers would be very interested in seeing them. |

HaT Indu, no problem. Let me know which ones and I'll send them along. |

Hi: Many thanks for your reply. Any representative pics would do. I'd appreciate it if you could include some text, because I think it's great that you're using the figures for your board game. Please send to the webtech address here: hat.com/Ask.html TIA, HaT Indu |
