it's the old 'rubber suit monster' thing
again
put a 'squid or octopus head' on a humanoid body and 'voila'
a new and 'terrifying' beastie
*yawn* Have you seen the 'octorilla' figure??? WOW
what a concept
take a KONG body and put an octopus head on it
.oooooooh
'scarey'
(I can do that with some plastic bits from Crafts 2000, cheaper!!!)
Or the spanish horrorfilm, 'Octoman'
the 'head' isn't bad
but the rest of the body is man in rubber suit
using two tentacle arms to carry the female lead
(ala Creature from the Black Lagoon, etc, etc, etc)
and the other two 'draped' over his shoulders as 'spares'
*sigh*
There's also a Jedi with 'dreadlocks and big eyes' (I forgot the name, think I have the action figure) and the chap from 'Starfighter' Dark Horse SW mini series
with same type of tentacle hair
or even a 'predator-type'
or 'Davy Jones'
(the monster from POTC, not the 60's singer from Monkees
though he did look rather scarey after last face lift/George Hamiltonian 'tan') and good grief
see how many different 'images/varients' there of of my buddy 'The BIG C'
.and now fuzzy slippers, backpacks and fanny packs
??? oh, the TENTACLANITIES!!!! Ya want something 'different'
try a 'tyranid feeder tendril head' on a kroot body with 'nid claw arms
and add a pair of 'batwings' from 'Fury heroclix'..and you've got a pretty wicked looking 'avatar' figure
Another set of bits to play with is to get some 'spoor pods' from Battlewagon bits' and add some 'extra detail' to them
makes for nice 'squiddy' things or even a 'mini beholder-like thing'??? *slish
slish*
Let me know when your package I sent arrives
lots of 'goodies' in there for you to play with

Can it be Fantasy
i.e. Amish SciFi? There are the Illithids from AD&D, plus many creatures with tentacles like Ropers and Carrion Crawlers. Do they have to be intelligent squid-like creatures? There is the remade Sarlac for the new SW movies. In ROTJ the dancing girl that Jabba throws to the Rancor monster had long ropey pseudopods hanging off the back of her head. Called Twi'leks or something like that. Jabba's yes man Bib Fortuna was one too. There are the aliens that look like college age girls who use tentacles to try to impregnate men but fail quite a bit due to the freezing cold generated during the coupling. The movie is called Decoys. It's a dog but you asked for tentacles. Oh course the aliens that attack in H.G. Wells's war of the worlds book were described as blob like with pseudopods. Didn't Dargo from Farscape have some vestigial tentacles? Don't forget Lando Malari's tenacles that also double as genitalia on Babylon 5. For horror/occult there are a few. Great Cthulhu. Speaking of the big C, there is the movie Dagon where the daughter/cult princess has tentacles for legs and the father is a squid-headed Deep One. I almost forgot about the frozen in space god that Hellboy fought in that Russian tomb. The demonic Sammael dogs have a mane of tentacles. J.C.'s The Thing cannot only imitate any alien with tentacles but when transforming would launch them around prey. Do Kiaju count? Gamera fought a race of carnivorous alien squids that wore Human suits but were not anthropomorphic. They could merge to form a huge monster squid. In the Revenge of Iris Gamera fights another giant monster with deadly life-sucking tentacles. I bet if you could find a copy of the cartoon Tigersharks (a Thundercats rip off with fish people are heroes and villains.), it probably has at least one squid villain. It may be specism but they rarely seem to be good guys when it's a squid for a noggin alien. Speaking of cartoons there's the mutant octopi that ends up on Leela's head after swimming through a pool of toxic waste. It tells her in a very deep voice that she used to be a little girl before falling in the pool. Do robots count? Tentakill is from the G1 Transformers he is a Seacon. There were one or two with tentacles in the Beast Wars Transformers series. Not to mention the Quintisons, some had them hanging from there bodies other breeds had them for arms. There are the squid soldier drones of the robot overlords in the Matrix. Boy that's all I can think of now
hope this helps. Oh wait I forgot there is also Dances With Words
I'm sure he can introduce you to a few

Just thought of another alien with tentacles
the organic enviromental suits of the ID4 Grays. The Graboids have modified tongue tentacles. I know I'm forgetting some obvious ones darn it
.this will keep me up all night. |
DemosLaserCutDesigns | 07 Jul 2007 12:03 a.m. PST |
The Sea Witch from Little Mermaid has a lower body composed of many tentacles. |

There's an old movie that has Lee Van Cleef in it. He has contacted a Venusian that wants to take over Earth and takes up residence in a volcanic vent or some such. It used bats creatures to convert people. I can't find the name. But the killer asparagus had tentacle arms. |

The Green Slime Aliens from the movie with the same name. I'm sure there is some in the MIB headquarter shots. Keep an eye on the line of aliens passing through customs. There is a giant dead one in the second movie. I'm sure someone probably has mentioned Tyranids. I think it is called Staro the overlord from DC comics. It's shaped like a starfish but its five arms are very flexible and can wrap around things to grab them. The Slish, DWW knows a lot about them. I've read the novel but not seen the episode where Tom Baker's Doctor who is trapped in an oceanside lighthouse with a blob-like alien with pseudopods that he is forced to kill. It chased him and his companion to the top where he either uses the light to kill it or fries it with the power source. Kodos and Kang from the Simpsons. In the back of the ShockForce 2nd Ed manual there is a comic in the back with a mutant girl with tentacles for hair. The Nemesis in Resident evil the game can shot piercing tentacle out of its palms and has writhing ones around his neck. There a British movie where they find a ship buried under the city and if I remember right when they open it a psychic alien intelligence attacks. Wasn't it squid-like? There's another British movie where a rocket that comes back from space with only one crewmember. The spaceman mutates into a blob with pseudopods, later he is killed in a church where TV filming is taking place and it is electrocuted. Sigmund the sea monster. Does that pool filter with the snaking flexing hoses count? It used to scare the hell out of girl next door when I was kid. She would jump in and then we'd turn it on and watch her freak. Cruel, but humorous. |

"Lee Van Cleef" OMG, I had completely forgotten him in that flick! CC |
DemosLaserCutDesigns | 07 Jul 2007 2:07 p.m. PST |
Oh and I didn't mean Sigmund the Sea Monster I meant that Kroff superstar show where the boy befriends a sea creature who's family is a bunch of rotten turds and bullies. I think there was a fish man who was played by the "comedian" who liked to throw buckets of confetti and was rather festive. |
DemosLaserCutDesigns | 07 Jul 2007 2:11 p.m. PST |
oh and actually the killer asparagus had claws on his arms BUT his whole body was like that of a squid. |

'The Horror of Fang Rock'
which was a 'weather balloon' with streaming metalling foil 'tentacles' drawn after it in one scene
GREAT STUFF! I actually did a complete 'almost like' set of figures for it, including a paper lighthouse kit
(or rather John McEwan did the figures and paper lighthouse kit FOR me to 'sell'
and I bought 300 sets of the figures AND lighthouse kit to sell
Most of them are still in storage
someplace
went over like a 'lead
weather balloon'
as did other 'genric time-travelers' I did about same time. But still have several of the little 'alien weather balloons
like a jellyfish on it's side
Also Fortress did a resin 'jellyfish alien' (done originally by Tom Pope
I THINK)
that I got a LONG time ago..and it had little 'baby' ones too
(that I still have).. And YES
I have images (thanks to TMP'ers) of the 'SLISH' and then I found my STARFARING game book TOO!! happy, happy, joy, joy! But have not been ABLE to 'capture' the true 'essence' of the 'slishiness' in sculpting, yet
(I keep trying!!!) but they have to be 'just so'
I also have an 8-inch SQUID that goes with the 20,000 Leagues 'NAUTILUS' I got off ebay awhile back
(was a Nintendo 'prize' or something..(they run about $59.00 USD plus shipping etc??? but nice desk model)
and I'm always TRYING/collecting/kitbashing/trading/finding
new 'tentacleness' for my VSF and C of C games
Speaking of which
I really liked the LESS expensive SOTA 'Cthullu' vs the Wizkids one
(1/4 the price and HALF the 'size') and I ended up getting the stats/dials for it thanks to Falloutboy12's website for horrorclix
(we swapped some bits and custom figs I did for him, etc)
So that worked out
There wasnt' a decent model of the 'Kraken' from POTC, YET!!! (like the scene in POTC 2 where 'Capn Jack' gets his hat back and say's, 'Hello Beastie' before drawing his sword and charging into it's MAW!!! Gotta love THAT!!! Don' forget the SPANISH horrorfilm 'Octaman' or japanese 'wrestling film' 'Calamari Wrestler' either!!! *slish
slish*
So many 'memories' (and tentacles)
so little time
Oh and if you really need an 'OCTORILLA' for your 'Horrorclix Lab'
just pick up one of the octopi and gorrilla figures from crafts 2000
it worked for me and a lot 'cheaper'
*slish*

I know this might not be what you had in mind, CC, but I have had to wonder if a head such as these examples might look more alien upon the body of Squidward from 'SpongeBob'? Seriously, his quadrupedal gait would work with a lot of other structures and make him a lot less humanoid as well. Though the current head has some fairly alien qualities and even looks mollusc-derived, he could well do with some improvements. |

"Squidward from 'SpongeBob'"? This fella? link LOL. I guess I have yet to watch a full episode of SpongeBob. :) CC |

LOL CC, that's the man. The quadrupedal gait is my favourite part of him – Four arms would have been even better but then again, they do get Patrick Satr exactly right; He acts like a creature whose brain is a ring around his anus . . . |
