Hi, I am after some relativley simple skirmish rules that are ideally suited for skirmish level play – any ideas? Thanks. |

Infinity. It really allows for small level actions to be very interesting. After playing 40K with nearly 100 figs a side for years I started playing this when it came out a year or so ago. I wouldn't have thought a game with 10 figs or less per side could be that interesting but it really is. Plus the basic rules are free. |

Savage Worlds Showdown and Necromunda are two that I like. ~OD |

If you're looking for solo play, nothing can beat 5150. Besides, they're the best rules around. Since I discovered it I don't play any other thing |

I'll second 5150. The activation mechanics make it perfect for solo play. It works with a couple figures aside up to a few dozen. |

Oh, sorry. I missed the solo part. ~OD |

5150, Warengine(free online wiki of rules – formerly Shockforce), No Limits (free online pdf). All three will fit the bill. |

Thanks everybody – wow, quite a bit to choose from, I will have a close look at all of them. Great stuff. Cheers. |

Another vote for 5150. All the 2HW rules are perfect for solo play, as they take full control away from the player. |

If solo is the criterea than 5150 is your game. Nothing is as solo friendly as Two Hour Wargames rules |

If you're going 5150 (I'd recommend it!) then make sure you join the group, even if you just lurk. THW rules are different, it can take a little to wrap your head around the reaction system. This is all made easier with the EXCELLENT support from the author and the veterans that hang out on the group. No question is too simple, or stupid – if you're unsure, ask! Great product, even better support! |

I have to agree with all the comments on Two Hour Wargames 5150 rules. The rules are great and allow you to play solo. The yahoo group is a good source for ideas and clarification of rules. I have picked up a lot of info from other people's questions just by lurking. Ed responds quickly to questions and others there are just as helpful. 5150 doesn't require you to use "official" miniatures either. That means you can use those old minis stuck in a box in the back of the closet. |

I too am going to throw a vote for 5150. I just found this system thanks to the writer comming to a local Con and really am imppressed with the quality of the game and the speed at which it plays. I am currently converting a bunch od sci-fi figs I have into an army for the system and plan to use it for an aliens vs. Marines game at the next con here in Denver. |
