I won't even bother to admonish the politically anal to confine this topic to the discussion of the book. Why bother? It won't do any good. I can hear the foaming at the mouth before I even hit [SUBMIT]! grin
I told my sister once that she could not pronounce his name without a sneer and a "y" after the "N", so I am familiar with the phenomonon. She laughed, by the way! She's OK. She even agrees with me about Citizen Kane.

A new novel by the team of Gingrich and Forstchen.
Like "Gettysburg" which had an alternate course, this one deals with a much more devastating Japanes attack on Pearl Harbor.
I have not read it, I am just reporting on its availability and release.
I liked the Gettysburg trilogy enough to wait for the paperback. grin I anticipate such frugal purchases in the future.

What prompted this non-review review was a review on amazon.com that contained this gem:

…the jacket designer should be shot! Portraying Iowa Class battleships at Pearl Harbor in 1941, when they were not even commissioned until 1943?

It looks like amazon.com could use OFM Law #13 also!

((OFM Law #13: "Wargamers should not be allowed to review movies."))

I'm about 3/4 of the way through the book….please don't tell me how it ends! ;)

So John, what are OFM rules 1-12?

I only cite them as needed. If Bill gives me a FAQ, I'll have to think of some in a hurry. Until then, and for this topic, #13 is all we need.

Hmm, John, I thought #13 was for Movies, while novels had alternate rules? :o)

For the information of a benighted Brit, how should Mr Gingrich's first name be pronounced? I've only heard it spoken by British broadcasters, always like the crested amphibian (and therefore with a 'y').

Finally, back to the topic! having read an earlier alternate WW2 novel of his that featured a German victory in Europe, and subsequent war with America, I'd certainly read it, although I might not want to pay full price…

I'm not sure if I want to consider the fiery 'elseworlds' romance between Brett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara.

[…] how should Mr Gingrich's first name be pronounced?

Noot.
