I am looking for 28mm circus performers for a Gothic Horror project inspired by Hammer films Vampire Circus. I need: a gypsy fortune Teller or Tarrot card reader. a Strongman, Clowns and general circus perfromers, a Panther or tiger and a big top tent! Any ideas please.I already have some of the Westwind Circus figures. |

first and foremost Wyrd miniatures has some nice characters that could fit in with what you're looking for. Seamus makes for a great circus frontman. wyrd-games.net for the fortune teller, a spanish company has a nice vudu ma'am wich could work in a circus, but she may be too dark (and busty) link (she will join a vudu army Im planning.) Spinespur has some mad clowns to offer. (or offer soon anyway.) link one equal idea I had in mind once was using rackham's midnor dwarves as evil clowns (they have big noses, these big noses can be painted red ;)) but that might be too far from your idea link a strong man is easy, using an ogre or barbarian from some ranges could solve the thing. much less over-the-top card wielding miniature : link and for athletes, what about taking some historical or pulp asian Monks and giving them colorfull bodypainting ? in general I think the painting determines most of the circus factor, also black orc games has a selection of (evil) circus people. tough I hate forwarding people to them, being a starting artist in this business is hard -I have to choose between bread and fruit in the grocery store (for real.)-,
and seeing them not hiring artists (not me perse mind you, more a matter of principles.) but instead keep dishing out art contests feels like a slap in the face somehow. apart from that, no personal problems, or any other problems I heard of about them so you should check them out anyway :) |

I must add, my suggestions are a bit more over the top ranges. compared to those given when I was typing. so might not fit in well with westwind's miniatures. I also like to add this one : link most beautiful gipsy woman out there, however, you can only buy her in the whole box (and she is the main reason for many to buy that box, so selling off leftovers wont help really too :)) also black orc's link is : link they should mix well with westwind. lastly Panthers, there's a spanish company Mars ultor having some panthers (dont know the link.) and black orc (again.) have a tiger and a cheetah.. not panthers, but they would do the trick Id think link |

Much respect to you for basing a game on one of the very best Hammer films. Citadel did some travelling players back in the day – they do pop up on eBay but they tend to go for a high price. |

There was a Partizan show free miniature from a couple of years back that was a strongman balancing a blacksmith's anvil on top of a pole. Cheers, Martin

Many years since this thread began, I'm back, looking to do some more work on this Circus project. I am in need of certain types to fully complete my Circus of Crime -- specifically, I'm looking for a Lion Tamer or similar type for animal acts. A guy or gal in safari clothes with a pistol, whip, even a chair, or who can be converted easily. Jhodpurs or pith helmet would be great. I have a female explorer/archaeologiost like this already but I would want a duplicate figure to modify to hold a whip and I can't remember who made the figure. Besides the Lion Tamer, or any other animal act types, I could use some acrobats / trapeze artists / flyers and I can ALWAYS use a lot more Clowns. I have a few clowns that are sold as single figures and I have the Brigade Games two circus packs. What else is out there? Anyone produce a box set of clowns or similar items? What about Gypsies? |

Second the 'Clix recommendation. My Victorian Circus team is mostly made of 'Clix.
These ones are all former 'Clix. Most (acrobats, strongman, beastman (partially hidden), performing bear, and midget/leprechaun) are just repaints. Any spandex-clad figure can be a Cirque de Soleil figure. Clowns are easy too … rather than focusing on zany figures, paint them up festively. It goes a long way. The India Rubber Man is some spandex/zentai figure with a paper turban and loincloth added. The Large Lady had breasts, dress, and hair added as a conversion of the Blob from X-Men. And the Ringmaster is a Brainiac 5 with some creepy HorrorClix dud head on him. I think the cane is a leftover Zulu weapon. |
