I've just been told that Caesar are planning to release their range of 1/72 plastic fantasy figures (not the metal miniknight ones) sometime in August. Not sure how solid this is but it comes from Caesar apparently. Here's some of their stuff- picture picture picture picture There are also elves and skeletons but no pics of them yet. Personally I'm looking forward to these. Mass battles are something I haven't tried for fantasy, just LotR skirmish, so these will make great opponents/allies for my burgeoning 1/72 dark age/crusader forces. If they retail at the same price as their historical stuff it should be about £5.00 GBP for 40+ figs. |

Looks like they would work great with Battelore! |

I received news of the August release date today from the manufacturer. Peter, at Caesar Miniatures, wrote me an email earlier today that said, "The fantasy series are finished their box print and under packaging process. So they will be available in near future. Maybe August will come these series. Thank you for your patience." So hopefully, I'll have something to paint late this summer. |

Oh look, another robe-and-tall-crinkled-hat-with-staff wizard. Stereotypes are one thing, but could we at least get away from obvious LotR-as-photo-reference wizards? |

Well seeing as we've been waiting for nearly 2 years, I hope it turns out well because nothing would be better than fantasy gaming at this scale. As no one yet has done plastic 1/72 fantasy, I am okay with the LoTR look – better to start with the basics than something not generically applicable. |

I like the old school look of the wizard. I dislike the distopian look of WotC's current D&D figures. Then again, I'm old school. I like 1/72. I might pick these up. They'll be cheap enough. |
cloudcaptain | 01 Jun 2007 3:23 p.m. PST |
I'd get these for use in the ranks of 15mm armies for sure. Seeing as how larger scale figs make for bigger beasties and all. |

Finallyfinallyfinallyfinally. About time someone stepped into the 1/72 fantasy market
! (Once other companies see how popular the genre is, look for more to join in.) |

Those figs look fine. I'd consider purchasing some for HOTT

I love the goblins and orcs. Especially the goblin with a bomb. Hilarious. I think the orcs will make great ogres/great orcs in 15mm and the goblins should work well also. I love 1/72 plastics though, but find I buy more than I can paint even more so than with metals. I'm trying not to get sucked back into 1/72 plastics, but this could do it. What's another scale right? And I used to have tons of 1/72 plastics, so why not again? But I'm going to stick with the pledge. So I've got some painting to do if I want to get a couple boxes of these in September or October. Did I mention I love the goblin with the bomb? |
Boone Doggle | 01 Jun 2007 8:19 p.m. PST |
Yep, the Orcs look like they will work as something or another in 15mm. Maybe the Goblins in 28mm? robe-and-tall-crinkled-hat-with-staff wizard That surely predates LOTR by many years if not decades. |

This week is looking pretty Good
Elhiem releases 20mm zombies and now I can add to my miniscule 20mm fantasy collection. Any idea how compatible these will be with the MiniKnight stuff I already have? I also hope the Dwarves will match the 18mm Dwarves I have from Eureka Goblins with bombs reminds me of playing warcraft on a 486. "We've got explosives, Kaboom!" |
Cry Havoc | 02 Jun 2007 8:00 a.m. PST |
I hope they really come out in August. They were announced quite some time back. If the price is the same as for their historical minis I will buy lots of sets. I always wanted to have 1:72 plastic fantasy armies. This way I can use my ancient and historical plastic armies in a fantasy setting. (Yes, I have combined them with fantasy figures of other scales in the past – who knows how big some fantasy races are anyways – but for some like dwarves, halflings or skeletons scale is important.) I hope Caesar will also bring out mounted fantasy figures and artillery and special figures in the future. |

All I can say is, if 48 infantry figures to the box are standard, there had better be 96 to a box of dwarfs. =o) |
Cyclops | 03 Jun 2007 5:33 a.m. PST |
Nah, dwarfs are wider so it all evens out. You might have a point with halflings. |
angus858 | 04 Jun 2007 10:19 a.m. PST |
I don't care for the styling on these scuplts but I love the idea of 1/72 plastic fantasy in general. When you consider the low cost of plastics and the accessibility of the fantasy genre it would seem like a good seller. I wish them luck. |
Cyclops | 04 Jun 2007 12:59 p.m. PST |
They've certainly followed the GW style on the goblins, orcs & dwarfs. Going for the obvious market (and who can blame them?). I certainly would have preferred a more LotR look about them. The bomb throwing goblins will be either converted or binned. However, I'll still be stocking up on them. A suitably dark and menacing paint job should do the trick. |
Alarick | 06 Jun 2007 9:14 a.m. PST |
ilove them i just hope they will make all the monsters and races from the monster manual but just give them diffrent names of course |
Margites7 | 06 Jun 2007 9:28 a.m. PST |
I am LOVING my latest foray into plastics! A whole box of well-sculpted guys for next to nothin'. Glue 'em to a penny and it has adequate heft. Drop on and no tears. Don't like a pose cut it and repose, or throw it in the trash! Could sure use some undead, tho. |

I promise I'll buy so much of this first wave of sets, that Peter will listen to my plea for gnolls and hobgoblins and minotaurs, and sets of monsters. Oh, my, what a happy day, indeed! |

What's the latest on these fantasy sets from Caesar? – Are they available in the UK? if the end result is as good as other Caesar 1/72 figures, then they will be great. It's about time fantasy became available in this scale. |
Jayster | 10 Oct 2007 3:05 a.m. PST |
It looks as though thses sets are almost on the shelf
.. Contact Hannants for more details as to when they will hae them available in the UK. That is the suggestion from Peter at Caesar. |

MusedFable | 10 Oct 2007 8:17 p.m. PST |
What's the point of making 1/72 scale fantasy minis if they aren't actually in human scale. Same melon heads, but now in soft plastic. |
Jayster | 11 Oct 2007 2:37 a.m. PST |
It doesn't sound as though Hannants are that interested in importing this range at the moment. SO, who on here is seriously considering purchasing these sets in the UK? I'm currently looking into the feasibility of importing a sizeable quantity, if there is sufficient demand. |
Warbeads | 11 Oct 2007 5:31 a.m. PST |
Looked good until I saw the dwarf with the musket (I'll buy crude explosives for the goblins – on the edge but then I can always cut off the fuse and make it a skirmisher with a throwing weapon.) Gracias, Glenn |
