link I've added a new painting I completed in the early hours of this morning. This is the one I was asking help with, regard the He111 bombers stationed in Norway. If anyone has any comments on the accuracy, please let me know. The painting took three days (nights) to complete. The closeness of shades between the various parts of the dark sky, and the light shades on the ship being also close to each other, made it a little more difficult than usual. This one was not painted to a commission, being merely one of those that I sort of 'felt like painting'. The ship depicted is HMS Tartar with a convoy to Russia, and shown in her 1943-45 configuration. Mal.Wright. |

Thanks for everyones kind words. The medium is Acrylic. But I do use a method of my own that gives a certain 'oils' look. I paint the hull of the ship in a basic colour and then when almost dry, I scrape it downward to where the water will be, then let it dry. Once dry I do the rest of the painting. But the scraped downward paint has now formed ridges similar to the thick effect one can obtain with oils. |
