I was wondering if anyone besides Panzerschiffe made Coastal warfare craft in 1/2400 scale? I'm looking for things like the German F-Lighter, Japanese Coastal Barges, Armed Trawlers and the like… I can already get MTBs, S-Boats and PT boats from Panzerschiffe

Preferably available from a US distributor though ordering overseas is an option…

GHQ does Elco PT boats, individually, and without bases, which are superb. They are excellent for taking on the Tokyo Express in the slot, for larger games.

Sadly, neither they nor CinC (now Pfc.) do British MTB's and MGB's, or S-Boats and R-Boats, despite the fact that these combatants were at sea virtually daily, right up until the end of the war.

There were frequent skirmishes between the opposing sides, regularly, so their omission is a major one in my opinion, and I've even gone to the trouble to tell them so, with no result.

Of course, you can always just use larger scale vessels instead, but I would really like to see some more of the smaller ones produced, since they would permit us to refight the larger battles on the tabletop, in a smaller area, and for less cost.

How are the Panzerschiffe S-Boats, and British MTB's? Do they produce the British Vosper and Dogboat MTB's?

I haven't ordered any yet to see the quality, but I imagine they will be just fine from the photos on the net. The only british MTBs I noticed were the Vospers. They come three to a stand just like the S-boats and PT boats.

And I agree, their omission is a large flaw. I want to stay to the same scale if at all possible and since we field cruisers and coastal boats in the same battles, or battleships down to coastal boats in the same battles it would be nice have the small stuff in 1/2400…

Howdy,

You might try Viking Forge:

They list PT boats and sub chasers in the US section, and other goodies in the Generic section.

Gee, it's embarrassing to admit, but I bought some S-Bootes, Vospers and Elcos and can't recall who made them. They are metal, clearly detailed and it sees like they came in groups of a dozen. Superior perhaps? We used to buy a lot of their 1/2400 stuff in our game group. I also got some Italian Spica corvettes and Italian subs.

Thanks for the help so far guys, I appreciate it.

Viking Forge has some stuff, but no photos so I don't know what I'm getting.

Superior has absolutely nothing at all, at least on the Alnavco site…

Thanks,

Michael it was PewterCraft. If you go here link you can see what they did produce. Unfortunately they are long out of business
