I seem to recall people mentioning that these might be reasonably compatible, but wanted to check just to be sure. I have some Old Glory 25mm foot figures for the Italian Wars, and wanted to see if they would work with Foundry's Swiss foot troops? I'm also curious how these will work with the old Grenadier line of figs, which now seems to have been picked up by Mirliton, under their Fantasy Humans line? |

While we're on the subject, how about the Mirliton 25mm horses for use with Foundry 25mm Gendarmes? |

how about the Mirliton 25mm horses for use with Foundry 25mm Gendarmes? The Mirliton horses already have a saddle sculpted on the horse and there's a "square notch" in the saddle so the rider will fit snuggly on the horse, so the OG gendarmes probably will not work with Mirliton horses. Rich Knapton posted pics a few days ago of his OG gendarmes on Front Rank Wars of the Roses horses, which look nice. |

Haven't see the Mirliton line so can't comment on them, but the Foundry and OG ranges are compatible and I have mixed them in the same units. I've also mounted some of the OG gensdarmes on Foundry WotR horses (bought back in the days when Foundry sold figures individually
) |

They work very well together. This OG line is one of their best. |

They should work fine. I used the OG Spanish for my early Italian Wars Spanish armies. Since Russ never did commanders, I used the Foundry swashbuckler range for the officers (also have some priest/monks in the front ranks). They are from a slightly later period
1520-1550
but they look great and I do fight some later battles. I also used the Swashbuckler pikemen for some of my back rank pikes
. As far as the old Grenadier line
. I use some of the arquibusiers and the guys with the large wall guns
. I used them for the warcarts at Ravenna
(as well as some actual carts). I will also use them for Pescara's hvy musket guys in later battles
They fit well. Joe Collins |

I use some of the Mirliton foot figures as commanders for my OG force. Most fit together fine, though I have found a a few that are a little taller. Chris |

Actually, that should be fine, since one expects leaders to frequently be a little taller than the rest, save for Napoleon. |

John: "Rich Knapton posted pics a few days ago of his OG gendarmes on Front Rank Wars of the Roses horses, which look nice." John, they were Foundry gendarmes on Front Rank horses. I don't like the size of the OG gendarmes. For my taste they are too small. Rich |

I use OG skirmishing foot crossbowmen along with their Stradiots and mounted crossbowmen for my Italian Wars/ Valois French army. I don't know about their Swiss, but they mix just fine with Foundry Landsknect pikes, handgunners and artillery. Perhaps a little stockier, but not enough to bother me. (I am currently using 30 year old+ Hinchcliffe Gendarmes btw, but will upgrade them to the new Eureka range when theiy're done.) |

John: "Rich Knapton posted pics a few days ago of his OG gendarmes on Front Rank Wars of the Roses horses, which look nice." Ooops, my bad. |

"Since Russ never did commanders" To my undying regret. I have often salivated over the OG Spanish, but the lack of a command pack has soured me on buying them. Otherwise it's a terrific range. But, no command pack for the Spanish? What was OG thinking? Shouldn't there be some kind of mandatory school for all figure sculptors and manufacturers that will teach them what gamers want from a figure line. |

I found some suitable ones for my needs on the Mirliton website, under the Grenadier (ex-Grenadier?) Humans range, and/or their renaissance historicals. |
