Put me in mind of Mongoose's Battlefield: Evolution – with a repaint of course. Mix in some Old Crow vehicles too. |

What less-WW2-looking stuff? Do they have any? |

I also have to suggest AT-43 look at the humans the battle suit/walker looks dead on! link

Thanks! Ok, assuming I can get past the fact that the AT-43 figures are prepainted plastic . . . I like their overall look but, am I seeing this right? Is the "Steel Troopers" unit box really 25 Euros for 6 plastic figures, and the "Star Troopers" 30 Euros for 8 plastic figures? link link If so, I think people like The War Store have quite a "bargain" for those plastics then: $20 USD for the Steel Troopers: link $24 USD for the Star Troopers: link Well, now that I'm already at the War Store site . . . How are those Urban War Viridian Marines figures really? I've never actually seen them "in the flesh": link link CC |
Jovian1 | 15 May 2007 8:17 a.m. PST |
Hey CC – the AT-43 stuff is pretty good for a pre-paint. I think with just a bit of work they will look very nice. They do look very much like your picture in the first post. The price may not be the best, but for what you get they are GW comparable in quality and they come pre-painted. (some would say "pro-painted":) You should also consider some of the Pig Iron stuff – they have some spectacular sculpts out right now and the armor on the infantry is spot on. |

I've got a bunch of the Urban War Viridian marines and vets (the ones in soft caps). They paint up nice: a bit of flash but not bad for mold lines. They stand a hair smaller and thinner than GW figs, but are bigger than the old Viridian plastics from the VOID game, and would fit in okay with GW metals (Steel legion as an example). They have a nice near-future/distant future feel to them: guns and equipment are recognizable but still futuristic. You could do them as western forces and the Triad troopers as Eastern forces pretty easily. For the drones and the like, Old Crow would be good for VTOL APCs/gunships, and GW plastic Tau gun drones would fit in okay as well

Jovian1, Holy cow! Those AT-43 troopers are absolutely HUGE, HUMONGOUS in fact!!! link I got rid of my SST Light Armor Medium Infantry for just that same reason, way too big. Ok then . . . Are the Pig Iron Kolony Troops size-compatible with the Urban Mammoth Viridians? TMP link TMP link I would figure that there should be at least two distinct sides with similar weapons and tech. and the photos I see make them look very similar. I have not yet seen a side by side of those two lines (Kolony and Viridians) at the WeeToySoldier site (unless I'm looking in the wrong place). Wait a minute, wait a minute . . . Is the figure second to last on this photo a Viridian? link I know that the other Pig Iron figures in that photo are not the new Kolony Troopers, but would they be similar in height to the other Pig Iron infantry? CC |

Sorry, This is the photo with the questionable Pig Iron (possible Viridian) on the right: picture CC |
MonkeyborgRedux | 15 May 2007 8:52 a.m. PST |
That is most definately a rogue Viridian. |

Looking at the first pic, I pretty much thought of SST's Light Armor Mobile Infantry and Rezolution's CSO Troopers. |
Cacique Caribe | 15 May 2007 10:26 a.m. PST |
Thanks. The SST LAMI would have been perfect, had it not been for their incredible size: picture I don't have a problem using 25mm, 28mm or even 30mm on my existing terrain pieces, but the bigger figures are just a bit much. Now, if the PI Kolony troopers are done to the same size as their other Pig Iron infantry, I may have solved my problem. If they are the same, then I would not have any difficulties mixing Kolony and Viridians: picture Thanks again. CC PS. Thank goodness for Hyun's WeeToySoldiers site! A picture is certainly worth more than a thousand words. :) |

Hi, Cacique Caribe Our Kolont troopers are compatible with our assault troopers and the heads swap nicely between them. From what I have seen the should fit nicely with both Viridians and GW Steel legion figures Hope this helps |

I have a Cso team, and i hesitate to recommend the Troopers, sadly they are a PAIN to aasemble, NONE of the arms fit without MAJOR sanding, putty and much swearing. They are also rather large
noticably out of scale with the rest of the factions, i'd say. |

That, sadly, has been my experience with my CSO Peacekeepers as well. They looked so good as advertised, but in reality are rather fiddly to assemble and look awkward. Ditto about the need to sand. |
