"have been dubbed the seven sisters --Dena, Chloe, Wendy, Annie, Abbey, Nikki and Jeanne--after loved ones of the researchers who found them." I'm not sure I'd get away with naming something huge and vacuous after my wife

You know, if they detect any thermal blooms coming from these things, I'm heading for the hills and making myself a suit of asbestos armor, at least until the microbes do their work

I gamed martian caves a couple weeks ago with my son and his friends. Modified The Sword In Africa for Flash Gordon type scifi. Lots of homemade, well, everything. It was a blast. I'm glad real Mars had caves, and can't wait to see what they find there, but Gaming Mars always had caves. Even the Temple of the Beastmen takes place in a cave, sort-of-thing. Andrew |

Didn't the problems in "Ghosts of Mars" start when they entered a cave and opened a crypt of some sort? CC |

erm
is it JUST me
or does it always seem like 'going into caves'
earth, mars, moon, etc
hardly EVER seems to be a 'good idea'??? Examples- 'Descent', 'The Flame Barrier' (50's)..'Brain from Planet Arous'
(50's movie), 'First Men in the Moon', 'Queen of Venus'-Zza Zza movie using Forbidden Planet 'leftover' uniforms and weapons
featuring, Venusian cave spider
'Wizard of Mars'
'The Moonmen'
Hercules vs the Moonmen
It Came from Outer Space
Starship Troopers movie 1, Doom?
etc
Escape from Mars???, 'Creature/The Titan Find'
.(more than one TARZAN movie) So what's the difference between 'dungeons', natural? caverns or below-ground 'installations'
(or small clautrophobic corridors in huge spaceships
.???) Does it make a 'difference' in the quality of the screams of hapless explorers/sidekicks? Mars 'caves'
may be the last abode of 'life'
or just areological (ares for mars, geo for earth) formations
or just a neat place to DIE
8-) Hmmmmm
the current Savage Worlds campaign I'm playing in, has my sci-team 'exploring' ice caves on the DWARF-PLANET 'Varuna'
and there are hints of 'insectoid' lifeforms..possibly ALIEN and 'intelligent'??? And we're walking FURTHER into the 'caves'
.heh, heh
. (who said, 'Nuke em from orbit..only way to be sure???) Carpe' Spelunkum
or 'caving' as the REAL cavers do
Sgt DWW-looking for a 3-4 bdroom undersea 'grotto' with hot and cold running lava flows

Cacique Caribe, Thanks to you and that link, I am making an entire cave system under my new Zombie town (based on a place I used to haunt (and hunt) on the White Trash River in Arkansas). Their is a club up their, called the "Cave Club", where you can enter through a cave entrance in Arkansas or Missouri, walk about 1/4 mile, and find a huge cavern with heavy metal bands and loose women!!! That link inspired me, and as soon as I finish the "Chewbacca Bait and Tackle" shop (Yes, theirs a very small town up their called "Chewbacca"!) I am all over the caves! |

"and find a huge cavern with heavy metal bands and loose women!!!" Smokeyroan, Here is some added inspiration (I hope) from a cave group called "Mithrilica": TMP link CC |

Cool. BTW, I am serious about said Cave club. It is really neat (although I only went their twice in five years in Arkansas. Reading about your Goblin band reminded me for some reason of Iron Maiden!!! Saw 'em in '85 with Twisted Sister. Ohhhhhhhhh!!!! The site's creator is a Bart too (although looking at his last name, doubt he was named after Bart Starr. Maybe I'll check out those zombie rockers someone makes. |
