I don't think I have seen a picture of the fortress itself. Zvedza figures tend to look nice when done, but to be a pain to put together – they are multi-part kits where _everything_ has to be glued together. So, for example, where a GW plastic kit would give you an arm with a sword as an option, Z gives you an arm, a hand that has to be glued to the arm, and some weapons you can glue into the hand. Anybody seen the fortress? Thanks, Mister W. |

pardon my ignorance but where are these figures from? |
| Major Thom | 27 Mar 2007 4:57 a.m. PST |
They are manufactured in Russia. |

Damn, can't call them from here. Are these pretty good 28mm fantasy figures? I am very tempted – I've just seen some pictures of their Elf Cavalry (on Pegasi no less!) and am very tempted by those too. Anyone tell me if this set if worth the money?? For $39.99 USD (inc postage worldwide) it'd work out at about £25.00 GBP ish for me – and I may just bite at that price! So, any info or pic links please? and also, rather than try to phone the US – if I could paypal someone the dollars, is there anyone across the pond who would place the order for me should I go for it? Thanks Scott |

Okay
I hate to ask an IDIOT question here and this is NOT to quibble, but, for someone who has not "mini'd" for awhile and the fact that the figs have to be assembled
is this a DEAL? I mean, the price is right, but all things considered, rules, miniature-assembly, etc
is this one of those MUST HAVE things, especially because of the price? Please advise. Thanks Andrew (Preziosia@aol.com) |

Bug struck again
I have the first skeletal legion set, which came out a few years ago. I don't know if they have changed since then, or not. My set was very difficult to assemble: hands and feet were separate, small plastic pieces; arms were separate, and had to be glued onto the shoulder, and then the hands had to be glued onto the wrists; the heads had to be glued onto the neck, while the helmet had some separate pieces also. They were made of hard plastic, which melted with the Liquid Cement ("welds" the plastic pieces together, rather nicely, albeit somewhat slowly, adding to the challenge of getting them to set in proper positions). They appear to be true 25mm sized figures. I find them to be somewhat small next to 28mm figures, but I still use them. The complexity of the assembly allows for two identical figures to be posed differently. They are somewhat delicate in construction, so a good base for handling, is highly recommended to avoid players handling the plastic figure which might result in breakage. The quality of the sculpting, the price-point, and the variety, make them very decent quality, and design. I haven't read, or played, the rules, so I can't comment on those. Otherwise, with the exceptions as listed above, I find them to be very good quality, design, and figures I am often tempted to purchase more of -- particularly those Elven Cavalry. YMMV. Cheers! |

I have the cursed legion set also. A trick I got told was wte both surfaces with glue, let it get tacky and then try to glue. That seems to work fine. The rules are cool. My review is here link I also posted a battle report here link The Troop lists on the Zvezda site ain't quite in idiomatic English. I've done a set that I sent them, but I don't think they ever used them. |

So, how big is the castle in inches? Anybody know for sure? Donald~ |
| Salibaba | 27 Mar 2007 9:38 a.m. PST |
Well
Unfortunately I don't think you can know if it's a "must have" until you get it and and decide how much you like it! I just ordered, I figured I would give it a shot since it is such a huge discount – if nothing else you get the castle which for 30 bucks is not bad. If any of the figures are useful that's a bonus! Hopefully I won't be disappointed; I'll post back when it arrives and let you know what I think of them. |

Thanks SaliB (if I may be so bold), since the Sale lasts through the month (correct me if I/m wrong), a few Out of the Wrapper postings would be most welcome. |

From the artwork on the box, The castle would probably be similar to this one: link I've also purchased the "Siege on the Ancient Fortress" which came with a similar fort without the inner stronhold and square corner towers. If I remember correctly they are about 2' x 2' when fully assembled. |

Whoa!! No wonder when I call the main items I want out of the Squadron catalogue are out of stock. I just got the March Catalogue in the mail yesterday. And here you are already talking about the April Catalogue. Shoot, it shouldn't take a month difference for a catalogue to reach Canada. Heck I'm only two hours drive from Detroit. |

I found this picture of the skeleton box set. It has a good comparison to GW skeletons. link |

The more I'm looking, the more fiddly bits and assemblying I'm going to have to deal with here
I'm beginning to think this "bargain" isn't quite for me. |
| blackscribe | 28 Mar 2007 10:04 a.m. PST |
Apparently (at least in the US), that crazy cheap S&H gets you Fedex home delivery with only $0.95 USD more covering loss/damage insurance. Score. |
| TwoGunBob | 28 Mar 2007 12:46 p.m. PST |
Ordered. What the heck, at those prices I'd be kicking myself later for not getting some Roman skeletons and siege weapons. Besides maybe I'll like the rules or maybe I'll use them for Armies of Arcana. |

Too bad this is "liquidation"/"line close out" sale, for the range is pretty good, but as with many things in North and Latin America
Promotion is what makes the stuff move out of the warehouse. I'd fork out the cash for three sets without a doubt, if I had it to spare these days--I hate med bills, I do! |
| Javier Barriopedro aka DokZ | 28 Mar 2007 1:53 p.m. PST |
Another thing
Is the initially mentoioned stuff the only one in the catalogue? I mean, I would sell a kidney, if the whole range (orcs, troll, more infantry, etc.) was available and on rebate. But that would only lead to surgery to have it removed and the med bill would increase. Hmmm
How about trading, then
I have a kidney to spare =P Seriously, though, are those the only luvverlies available? 'Cause I would definitely sell my remaining cleaned Confrontation Orcs (about 24), my 5 wolfens and the semi-built and primed Devourers just to get a couple of fortress sets and a few extra items. Man, I hate slow work-days and medical emergencies

Anyone have difficulty ordering? They quoted me the sale price as $153 USD but I told them the sales flyer said $29.99. They are supposed to call me if there's a problem. |
| mrwigglesworth | 28 Mar 2007 5:33 p.m. PST |
"They quoted me the sale price as $153 USD USD but I told them the sales flyer said $29.99" When I called they told me the same thing then he looked it up in the sales flyer and all was well with the world! |

I didn't have any problems ordering. The lady on the other end of the line knew just what I wanted. |

I sent an e-mail with a self written invoice with the prices, total, shipping, etc. Went without a hitch. Hoping the stuff arrives around Friday or Saturday. |

| Leopold Von Bek | 30 Mar 2007 4:54 a.m. PST |
I guess the price is right, but the human infantry figures a are not really that good. I bought a package a while back, and they really lack any decent detail. I suppose they work if you need a bunch of faceless troops, but they are so bland I couldn't force my self to put assemble & paint more then 1 of them
. |
| jupe1955 | 30 Mar 2007 6:09 a.m. PST |
Zvezda seems to design its models to require the maximum amount of time to put together. You have to glue hands to arms and weapons to hands. Even a three inch section of castle wall has about a dozen parts. It is a good deal, just think of the figures as buying bits. |

Hurrah! I have been meaning to buy some of these Roman Skellies for about two years! I just ordered, and can't wait for the little s to arrive!!!!!! |

"Too bad this is "liquidation"/"line close out" sale, for the range is pretty good, but as with many things in North and Latin America
Promotion is what makes the stuff move out of the warehouse." I don't know that this is a liquidation sale. I got the same deal about 7 months ago, I might have paid $50 USD for the fortress set, but they also had a lot of the other sets on sale too, so I got a troll, some Orcs, etc
At that time people said it was common at Squadron to sell these CHEAP. TMP link Pendkar (who is trying not to buy a second castle to go along with the first one that isn't put together yet..) |
