Just curious if there are zombie figures suitable for use with 54mm "toy" cowboys and soldiers.

The figs in Twilight Creations "Bag o' Zombies!!!" are much too small, by the way (about 20mm, I would guess).

Try some of the figures from Marx's Untouchables set or convert Airfix multipose.

To the best of my knowledge there are no toy 54mm Zombies out there. There is a guy on the Littlewars yahoo group that made some by converting some old ring-hand figs. Other options discussed have been to take a hot nail and poke holes in figs. (bodies, faces, etc.) and paint appropriately. Cowboys would be fun, just carve and melt. Maybe add some tissue soaked in glue, to represent torn and loose clothes, etc. When it dries it looks like cloth.

I converted some rather expensive Prieser plastic Adam and Eve figures (for the fresh-off-the-slab look) and some of their train station passengers.

Your favorite local hobby shop should be able to order them.

I carved up some plastic figures by first removing the helmet, not worrying too much about a real neat job; whatever "damage" I caused can be painted to look like the effects of head wounds. I generally cut the weapons out of the hands, although I left some if they looked like they might be used as a club. Some of the cheapo plastics include a modern U.S. soldier running with a light machine gun, his shirt open to the waist. His chest can simply be painted to look like rotting flesh. As Craigspeil pointed out, hot nails are useful for making bullet holes, etc. I also used glued some spare GW weapons (knives, cleavers, etc.) to look as though they had been plunged halfway into the body. (Which also shows you how over-scaled they are!)

On the bases I added lopped off heads, limbs, thrown-away equipment, etc.

Check out Dollar Tree, Big Lots and Wal Mart, look for the Firemen, Construction workers, cops and Paramedics, some are closer to 45mm so observe them. The Wal-Mart construction crews have (not ring hand, but a "Static Kung Fu grip" for the included tools). Trim the hardhats from the rim upwards, put a bic on the top of head, then kinda mold/sculpt till you got a passable head shape, then scribe or whatever, this will make a very good Zombie. Also, get the incredibly cheap BMC soldiers (about $6:00 for a bag of fifty)(see toy soldier co.), especially the Alamo set (raggedy Texans with beards, rags, easily altered.)and the Civil War set. Their new Andersonville playset has a ton of near dead looking figures (Nice playset, Huh?) (These include some personalities that are perfect: hatless Bowie, Jackson, Meade, etc.) I have used these guys to make mass casualties for a Zulu diorama, and modified them into civilians. Sorry, didn't mean to preach, I just happen to have extensively converted said figures.

How big was the M.I.M.P zombie… he is rubber, but there may be a way to paint him..

Just a thought..

Oh yeah, look at Homies and their sister sets (one is a redneck range.) The size of the figures varies and some are in the right limits, and that soft rubber is convertable. While visiting my old U of Arkansas last month, a vending machine had a pack of about 6 smaller homies, I'd say perfect 28 mm. I ran out of F---ing Quarters trying to get it, ended up with regular ones. Maybe try their website.

Thanks guys. I'm not interested in doing conversions, though -- I was just wondering about retail availability of that product. It's interesting to know that it's not out there…

A little enthusiatic firm has made a trio of zombies in plastic/resin:

If the link doesn't come up, it's toy-soldiers-etc.com
They also offer a bag of 54mm skeleton warriors – 48 for $12.00 USD
Too, it may be that all the zombie figures have weirdly gravitated to KingZombie dot com?

Ah, those "skeleton wariors" by Fencibles. Nice for the 54mm enthusiasts.
