Well produced video.

It's quite intriguing.

It looks interesting, but I am satiated right now on my WWI itch.

In case somebody else comes here by following a search for more information about the game and its miniatures, the following links might be helpful:

One of the last two is where the rules and a Print-&-Play set can be downloaded from. There's also the possibility of a digital playtest at Tabletopia.

Now, what I was initially looking for are …
– historical background information about Limanowa (as even Osprey comes up dry on this one).
– Colour schemes for painting the uniforms and equipment, etc., of the involved units.
– unit insignia, flags and so on, to 'pimp' the game and flesh it out.
– and if possible and somebody happens to know them, a list of suitable colours (preferably acrylics but email should do in the worst case).

I do not expect anyone else to do the legwork for me, but if you happen to have a few pointers as to where one could begin the research, those hints would be welcome.

Osprey produces books that cover both the Austrian and Russian Army of WW1.

I am sure some good searches on googling will turn up painting and flag guides. Look especially for companies that produce WW1 figures. That saind for the Austrians regimental standards were still the double headed eagle on yellow field for the Imperial Army and landwher, and the hungarian standards for the hungari honved

I'm finding this game (Heroes) looking extremely good.
They have done a lot of "homework" and put a lot of passion into it. And getting this kind of thing off the ground is what Kickstarters were originally for (as differing from the simple 'pre-order-- give us your money now' system many established companies are using it for.)
